‘9-1-1: Lone Star’ Finally Reveals Official Fate
While the cast of 9-1-1: Lone Star was filming Season 5, there were rumors that this would be the popular police procedural’s final season. However, no one knew for a fact, not even the cast. While Rob Lowe commented that this could be the best season yet, he didn’t know if it would be the last.
Here is a look at what the network has finally said about
Fox Ending 9-1-1: Lone Star After Season 5
Fox finally announced that 9-1-1: Lone Star was ending after Season 5. This was something the cast and fans had guessed already. Sierra McClain already announced she was leaving when the network passed on renewing contracts. Now, fans know the reason why.
“From the start, fans have followed the heroic and deeply moving stories of the men and women who make up Austin’s 126, so a huge thanks to one of the greatest creative teams in all of television,” Fox said in a statement (via Deadline). Fox mentioned Ryan Murphy (American Horror Story), Brad Falchuk (Nip/Tuck), and Tim Minear (Angel).
Then Fox dropped the hammer. “Now in our final season of the show, we’re set to give it the high-stakes send-off it deserves, complete with breathless rescues, insurmountable odds, and relatable personal struggles, thanks to our incomparable, stellar cast led by Rob Lowe and Gina Torres.”
With that, Fox finally confirmed this is the final 9-1-1: Lone Star season. Fans were not happy with the news:
- “It’s concerning that multiple shows with LGBTQ characters are being discontinued.”
- “What happened “We’re going to wait and look at the viewer numbers before making a decision.” Man, the cast, crew and fans deserve better than this. Stop canceling the good shows and start canning the crap ones”
- “How do you do that to your #1 rated show?? How do you tell everyone, let us see how the ratings go?? FOX never had any plans to renew.”
Rob Lowe Unhappy About 9-1-1: Lone Star Ending
Rob Lowe has been the face of 9-1-1: Lone Star, and he seems very unhappy about the show’s ending. He said he went into filming the season believing it could be the last, no matter what Fox previously said about waiting to see the viewership numbers.
We all went into it pretty much knowing it would be the last season, so that affected everything we did,” Rob Lowe said. “We wanted to really show everybody what is still possible in network television if people have the appetite to do it. It feels like it’s probably the end of an era of a certain type.”
He then emphasized it is the end of an era. “It is the end of an era of a certain type of show we once had an opportunity to make, and I think they’re great,” he said.
