‘Curse Of Oak Island’ Fans See Hints The End Is Near
This week’s The Curse of Oak Island episode had the Lagina brothers discussing their time on the island. They commented on what they had done so far, and it seemed to be a moment when the show might hint that the era was coming to a close. One fan even mentioned that it sounded like this was the end.
Here is what the brothers talked about and why some fans are concerned.
Fans See The End Of The Curse Of Oak Island Coming
This episode of The Curse of Oak Island had the Lagina brothers waxing poetic in the war room. A Redditor known as mmttzz13 wrote that their conversation seemed like the end. One brother talked about how proud he has been of the Brotherhood, while the other spoke about the cost of “slamming a can.”

He asked in the post if this was the end and the money might be running out. However, the ratings are still good for the reality TV show, and it is unlikely money is what it getting the Lagina brothers down. One Redditor suggested that it was instead “Spooner’s relevation” that knocked the wind out of Marty’s sails.
This revelation happened in the episode “Hide and Seek.” Dr. Spooner said they had been trying to travel the precious metals that led them to the Garden Shaft. He then dropped a bombshell. Spooner said the Garden Shaft no longer has precious metal readings. This made Marty Lagina fight to keep believing.
Fans responded to the possible end in the Reddit thread:
- “They just need to come to the realization that the island was a rest stop/port of call/refused from a long ocean journey.maybe some coin left here and there.”
- “If true, as a watcher from s1-9, I am amazed it took this long.”
- “Obviously they’re winding this down. There’s only so much more they can do. They should transition this to an annual special with an archaeological update.”
Is Curse Of Oak Island Ending?
One Redditor responded with a reason why the show likely isn’t ending. According to Wishpicker, the current Ciurse of Oak Island season has a .54 rating, which is still strong for The HISTORY Channel. According to this Redditor, it would take a drop to around .4 or lower to risk a cancelation.

While the ratings are still going strong, there is no reason for The HISTORY Channel to cancel the show. While vocal fans online still hate-post about it, enough fans still watch it weekly to keep it running. If nothing, they can still talk more about history, even without any treasure discovery.

I’ve watched THE CURSE OF OAK ISLAND for all 12 Seasons.i love the brothers and their team. These are personable and intelligent men. . I don’t care iF they find a treasure or not. I appreciate their persistence and mutual cooperation among team members. It’s my TUESDAY escape from the crazy reality in the USA.
I suspect Marty and Ric have planted embellishments i.e. artifacts around the island to add to their scheme and give credibility to their claims. Those two are not idiots but clever manipulators of the viewing public to keep ratings high, their money coming in and avoid the show being cancelled. Shame on them and I hope they are exposed for the frauds they are. Perhaps some jail time will be in order if there is justice in the world.
I have watched this show from the inception and still do. However, I am getting sick and tired on how the History Channel consistently repeats the same details, pieces of equipment, items found just to eat up show time. Those of us loyalists know about the artifacts, equipment and all other past information, STOP, enough of repeating and show us something we don’t know! If this continues you will lose me as a loyalist!
Agreed, the editors have perfected the art of fluffing 5-10 minutes of worthwhile content into 40 minutes of runtime. Coupled with the fake drama and idiotic suppositions, it has become pretty much unwatchable for me.
Like a number of folks I have followed the show since inception! In the beginning we had a group of about a dozen who watched and supported the Michigan boys efforts, but over the years most have fallen away. Scripts tend repeat comments over and over, and having so many commercial interruptions the relevant content is extremely limited. With all the drilling, the island is becoming like a piece of “Swiss cheese” and little wonder that the ground crumbles away under their equipment! With little of monetary value found, the suggestion to change the format to a yearly review of progress, or a “special program” should something of significance actually be found makes more sense! If they decide to continue with the current format, a number of the regulars will be eligable to retire soon due to years of service! The program will likely be remembered as a valiant effort, however with a potential name change to the “Money Pit”, referencing the costs, time, and sunk investment it is turning out to be. If the ratings are as high as claimed, then go out on top, with the knowledge that they gave it all they could to succeed. Maybe what ever was there in the form of a “treasure” had been found years ago, and all that remains are artifacts form a long gone past! It’s becoming difficlt to watch their continued defeat year after year!
What ever happend to their effort to find the lost Civil War gold in Lake Michigan, those shows were interesting! Possibly moving on to other projects will renew interest in their overall efforts.
