‘The Rookie’ Fans Accuse Show Of Re-Using Storylines
The Rookie is in the middle of its seventh season. This season will have more episodes than the sixth, with 18 total, and it runs from January through May 2025. However, with the show being in its seventh season, some fans are seeing storylines being recycled and reused for different characters.
Here is what the fans are seeing right now, which they feel is nothing new and not worth taking the time to tell.
The Rookie Reusing Pregnancy Storyline For Lucy?
The Rookie is in the seventh season of the show, and there seems to be the possibility for a new pregnancy storyline. According to some fans, they feel that Lucy might end up pregnant – and that it might be unplanned. This is not something many fans want to see.
A Reddit thread was started with the OP worried that The Rookie was planning an unplanned pregnancy for Lucy. They wrote, “I feel like this storyline doesn’t suit her and we’ve already got two unplanned pregnancies in the show i feel we don’t need another one.”
Many fans chimed in on why they think this entire story would be a bad idea:
- “If Lucy were to get pregnant It shouldn’t be accidental. However both Tim & Lucy have expressed they want kids.”
- “I don’t want Lucy to accidentally get pregnant… and I don’t even think the writers want that! If Lucy accidentally gets pregnant it will be because Melissa got pregnant in real life.”
- “I really don’t think they will randomly make lucy pregnant, fans mostly want her growing , healing and succeeding in/focusing on her career, an unexpected pregnancy would be very out of place.”
The Rookie Pregnancy Storylines
One thing that some fans brought up in the comments was that the other “unexpected” storylines were because the actors got pregnant in real life. Both Mekia Cox (Nyla Harper) and Alyssa Diaz (Angela Lopez) got pregnant in real life. As a result, the writers made them pregnant in the series.
However, as many fans pointed out, Lucy “accidentally” getting pregnant wouldn’t work for the character. The character went through some terrible moments in her life. In Season 2, she ended up buried alive, and Tim barely found her in time to save her life. Lucy also went through a traumatic experience after Jackson’s murder.
Since then, she has worked on bettering herself and becoming the best police officer she can. However, what really brought on these rumors is that people have been weight-shaming her and claiming she is pregnant because of weight gain. However, there has been no announcement, and making pregnancy guesses based on weight changes remains wrong.
