HGTV ‘Scariest House In America’: Is It Staged?
There is a new HGTV reality TV series, but thanks to its themes, many fans don’t believe it is real. Like many shows that deal with the supernatural, Scariest House in America is a show that fans don’t think it as real as the network likes to claim it is. There are many fans who think it is staged.
Here is what you need to know about the new HGTV reality TV series.
What Is Scariest House in America?
Scariest House in America is a new HGTV reality TV series from comedian and host Retta. The show is a spinoff of the popular series Ugliest House in America. Retta heads off across the United States and discovers some of the most haunted houses in the country.
There are only four episodes in this series, but many fans want to know if it is real or scripted. This includes the HGTV network home lovers and the horror fans who tuned in to see spooky houses up close. However, unlike ghost-hunting shows like Ghost Adventures, this isn’t about proving the supernatural. It is about exploring the haunted houses themselves – as houses.
One thing that HGTV has tried to do is present its reality TV shows as real as possible and not scripted like Real Housewives or The Kardashians. However, in reality, all shows are scripted because the producers need to choose the locations, set up the cameras, and then decide how to edit them together after the fact.
For this specific reality TV show, it seems that it sticks with the HGTV format and shows off the houses while also delivering what seems like realistic scares. It does not seem staged, but it is edited together to remain entertaining.
What Happens On Scariest House in America?
In Scariest House in America, Retta heads out to some scary houses that are supposedly haunted to talk to the owners. She and the camera crew then explore the house.
In the first episode of Scariest House in America, the show visited three haunted houses. One house was a residence that once served as a hideout for gangsters and has a history filled with ghostly encounters. Another was a home that was supposedly haunted by ghosts and witches. Another had a creepy dollhouse.
As mentioned, this is not a show that is about proving ghosts or pulling out the equipment that Zak Bagans loves to use. This show is just about checking out spooky houses and having some fun.
Scariest House in America airs on Friday nights on HGTV at 9/8c.
