‘Survivor’ How Did Matt & Frannie Connect On Show?
Survivor is a reality TV competition series in which no one can trust each other. Even the best allies eventually betray someone else to win the money. This happened last season when the closest allies imploded at the end, and one of them even voted for the other to lose in the final vote. However, the show has also resulted in a love story.
Now, Matt Blankinship and Frannie Marin are talking about how they found love on Survivor 44.
How Did Matt & Frannie Connect On Survivor?
Matt and Frannie said they connected mentally from the first time they saw each other on Survivor 44. “Before we were allowed to talk to each other, I saw Franny, and she was wearing a shirt that said, ‘Kidney Health Matters,’” Matt remembered. “I thought, ‘This is a dork. We’re going to get along’” (via Us Weekly).
This was similar to what Frannie also thought. “I saw him wearing glasses and I was like, ‘Oh, this is gonna be good,’” she said. “I think Matt and I had both just felt like normal people when we were looking at each other.”
Both characters were successful, although neither made it to the finals. Matt was voted out on Day 14 as the sixth eliminated. He was the first jury member, though. Frannie only lasted until Day 19; she was the ninth to be voted out and the fourth jury member.
After leaving the competition, Matt and Frannie built a relationship that continues to this day.
Where Are Matt & Frannie From Survivor Now?
Frannie said she lived in Boston, and Matt lived in San Francisco at the time they appeared on Survivor 44. They tried a long-distance relationship for a while but wanted more. Frannie moved across the country to San Francisco and started living with Matt. “Truly, perhaps the best decision I’ve ever made,” Frannie said. “I love it here.”
However, people won’t hear much from the couple since neither cares about social media. Matt said he lives “under a social media rock, and I like it that way.” He said it is simple and quiet that way. Frannie said she lives in the moment and never thinks of snapping photos to post online for memory’s sake.
“I just love living with you and hanging out with you, and that’s what’s really important at the end of the day,” she said.
While they don’t pay attention to online chatter, Frannie said she thinks she understands why Survivor fans connected with them. “We’re not, like, hot people,” Frannie said. “I think it was just very clear that what was happening was genuine.”
