‘Jeopardy!’ Fans Call Out Champion As ‘Obnoxious’
Jeopardy! fans have a distinctive idea of what a champion on the show should act like. For many fans, Drew Basile is not what they want to see as their champion. He gets excited and is demonstrative after wins. However, many fans see this as taunting and think his personality is “obnoxious.”
Here is what fans had to say about Drew Basile, who is continuing his long winning streak as Jeopardy! champion.
Jeopardy! Fans Consider Drew Basile Obnoxious
On Thursday, June 27, Jeopardy! champion Drew Basile won yet again. This put his overall winnings at $129,601 with his seventh win in a row. The former Survivor player was always seen as a know-it-all on that reality TV show, and he is proving it on Survivor.
However, when Drew wins, he gets excited about it. He shows enthusiasm and enjoys the moment. This included one moment where he got an answer correct and won the game, which caused him to do a fist pump in celebration, as he had a big smile.
Many fans took to social media and said his excitement about winning made him “obnoxious.”
- “Dude – learn some humility and grace. Ugh”
- “Agree with he’s obnoxious when he wins”
- “It would have been nice if he had acknowledged his opponents after self-celebrating. “
- “Ah, youth. He has no sense if decorum. He even applauded for himself. I rarely root against someone, but in his case …. I noticed that.”
Most of the people felt that he should have remained subdued and not celebrated the win. The commenters felt he was “congratulating himself” and not acknowledging the people he just beat. They determined that makes him
“ungracious” and “obnoxious.”
Some Jeopardy! Fans Come To Drew’s Defense
However, while many fans felt Drew celebrating his wins made him unlikable, others came to his defense. Many felt that the people complaining wanted a more boring and emotionless champion.

- “I find Drew absolutely fantastic to watch on my screen. He’s young, excited, energetic, and should absolutely celebrate winning a life changing amount of money”
While Jeopardy! fans are disagreeing over Drew Basile’s personality, it seems that Survivor fans are enjoying seeing him do so well on the game show. It also was just revealed that he could be back on Survivor soon.
Drew was one of the names listed as possible all-stars returning for Survivor 50, which is currently in development.
