Deon Derrico’s Mom ‘GG’, 74, ‘Ill Keep Fighting Until God Tells Me To Stop’
Doubling Down With The Derricos dad, Deon Derrico is the dad of 14 kids, a good husband to his wife, Karen, and a devoted son to his mom, Marian “GG Derrico.” Sadly, the TLC star’s been unwell with cancer, but that doesn’t stop her from making precious new memories. DDWTD Deon Derrico Worries About His Mom ‘GG’
There is a lot of fun that happens in a house full of 14 active children. However, GG worries everybody because her cancer seems to show little sign of going away. The DDWTD star went for surgery but struggled with chemotherapy. In the trailer for Season 5, she told the family that she wanted to drop conventional treatment. Instead, she wanted to take a more holistic approach.
Deon Derrico didn’t want his mom to stop her treatment but she’s a feisty woman despite being unwell. Of course, the kids all adore her. Actually, tears are seldom shed in the home, until it comes to the health of the beloved grandmother. However, a recent episode on June 11 revealed that she’s still up for adventure.
Doubling Down With The Derricos Fun In The Snow
In the episode titled, Black People Ski Too, the slopes were daunting, but the grandmother refused to just sit on the sidelines. Parade carried a teaser for the episode, and the outlet noticed that she left the others to have some fun of her own.
Deon Derrico’s mom slipped away from the others and went to get a “plastic sled.” Then, laughing and excited, she slid down the hill. The touching part for DDWTD fans came in her confessional. The TLC star said:
There’s times, here and there periodically, where I have the feeling that I’ve fought long enough. Then, it’s moments like that, that remind me you haven’t. You have not fought long enough. You keep on fighting. So, I’ll keep on fighting until God tells me to stop.
