‘AGT’ Simon Cowell Says His Son Eric Saved His Life
America’s Got Talent judge Simon Cowell has never been silent about his life and struggles. In a recent interview, he opened up about one of the toughest times in his life. He said that he owes getting through it to his son Eric and said he saved him from a “downward spiral” in his life.

Simon Cowell Says Son Eric Saved Him From “Downward Spiral”
America’s Got Talent judge Simon Cowell said that his son Eric saved him from a “downward spiral” during a recent tough spot in his life. The judge has gone from being one of the harshest reality TV judges on American Idol to someone who sees the beauty in everything on America’s Got Talent.
However, he needed his son Eric to help him when he hit a particular low point. Simon said this happened when he lost his parents. On Monday, Cowell was on The Diary Of A CEO podcast and talked about a tough time in his life.
“I think particularly when I lost my mum, I was on a downward spiral at that point,” Simon said. “I lost everyone, you know, I’ve lost my parents. It’s finality now. What I said about the material things I’ve got, everything just meant nothing at that point. I was desperately unhappy.”
Simon, 64, said he became a workaholic. He said he became very successful, but he wasn’t happy at all. However, when he and Lauren Silverman learned they were having a baby, he said it changed everything in his life. “it changed everything in my life. It made me happy again,” he said.
According to Simon, it was becoming a father to Eric that “without question” saved his life. “I really, really had reached the point where nothing mattered,” Simon said. “Even to the point that I almost can’t remember everything from that period.”
Simon Cowell Making Other’s Dreams Come True On AGT
Fans of America’s Got Talent know that Simon Cowell is a very different person from how he was a decade ago. He is happier, finds more joy in the talent he judges on AGT, and does what he can to make people feel special on the show.
Simon Cowell recently helped send a second talent through with a Golden Buzzer. He had already buzzed it once, and his fellow judges said he couldn’t do it a second time. However, after he did it, Simon refused to relent and agreed with producers that all the judges should get two golden buzzers this season.
The first Golden Buzzer was for a singing group that blew him away. The second was for a fantastic drone show that not only told a story but placed Simon’s face in the act.
