Kelly Ripa & Mark Consuelos Surprised At Big Win For Show

On Friday, the Live With Kelly And Mark show was honored with a prestigious award. While it was a wonderful privilege, it was a surprise to both Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos to have this big win for the show.

Kelly Ripa And Mark Consuelos Have The ‘Unthinkable’ Happen

While the Live With Kelly And Mark show has seen several changes with the addition of Mark Consuelos, it was still shocking for Kelly Ripa and Mark to get a big award this past week. Notably, it was so surprising, they weren’t there to receive it in person. Over the past weekend, the jet-setting couple flew to see their daughter, Lola Consuelos, in London. Since Lola finished her degree in Music Studies at NYU, she has resided in England with her boyfriend. Kelly says, “The unthinkable happened!” referring to the winning during their absence. Although Kelly and Mark couldn’t give their acceptance speech at the event, they offered a belated speech during the June 10 episode.

Kelly Ripa & Mark Consuelos Surprised At Big Win For Show

During the middle of Saturday night, Mark Consuelos received a text from Jerry O’Connell. Mark recalls, “He said, ‘Hey, if you guys win, can I give the acceptance speech.’ I said, ‘Yes.’ He said, ‘Who do you want to thank?’ I said, ‘Thank Ryan Seacrest.'” Kelly Ripa was still sleeping in the early hours around 2:30 a.m. when Mark got the text. So he just waited until morning to deliver the news. She revisits the moment saying, “Mark said to me, ‘Yo, we won an Emmy.'” She was so “out of it” she retorts, “For what?”

Kelly Ripa Offers Her Belated Acceptance

Luckily for Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos, even though they couldn’t attend the event, they have their show to make up for it. Kelly says, “We weren’t there to give our speech but I’m going to give a brief acceptance speech. I just want to say, first and foremost, thank you, Mark, for being an incredible, incredible partner. You make it look easy and it is not easy and the ease at which you do this job inspires me and all of us every single day.” Genuinely, she also gives the audience a shoutout. She says, You make us feel like Emmy winners every day, which we are certainly not. But we owe it all to you. So thank you very much.”

Mark Consuelos Gives His Words Of Wisdom

After Kelly Ripa finishes her speech in retrospect, Mark Consuelos compliments her saying, “That was good.” Then, Mark gives the words of wisdom he would have shared at the Emmys. He says, “I would have said, my dad always told me to marry somebody who’s better than you and try to work with people who are way better than you as well.” Furthermore, he acknowledges, “So I’ve done both those things. So thank you. Thank you for holding me up. I appreciate it.” He also jokes that Kelly is the Tom Brady of daytime Emmys. Notably, this is her sixth win in this category during the last two decades as the Live co-host. However, she has won with four different co-hosts during that period.

Additionally, he says, “Daytime, for us, really started our careers.” Further expressing gratitude for their selection, he adds, “It’s everything.” Mark elaborates, “It means everything to us. I always wanted to win a Daytime Emmy as an actor.” Mark confesses, “I was nominated once. I think it was like a mercy nomination. But it’s so — it’s so cool. It’s still hitting me that we did that. It’s very, very, very cool.”
