Recently, on Jeopardy! fans became suspicious that the show was selling out to plug businesses shamelessly. When a category features The Kardashians star, Kim Kardashian, it hypes fans attention.

Undeniably, Jeopardy! has been migrating to more popular topics over the past few years. Naturally, with questions about Taylor Swift, Rascal Flatts, and Drake making some of the categories, they have spiced up the pop culture aspect of the show. Many fans believe this is the subtle introduction to the newest spinoff of Jeopardy!, Pop Culture. However, some think these new topics are watering down the traditional version of the show. But now fans are suspicious the show is selling out by getting a kickback or agreeing to promote businesses such as The Kardashians star, Kim Kardashian’s brands.

Kim Kardashian Stuns The Players

In Monday’s episode of Jeopardy!, Ken Jennings launches a surprising category for the competitors: Adriana, Matthew, and Carol. First, he introduces the category, “Celebrity lifestyle and beauty brands.” Then, the $1,600 clue read: “Kim Kardashian started this brand to create shapewear to match different skin tones.” But after Ken reads it aloud, the players are completely stumped. Leaving the stage with no attempted guesses, Ken breaks the silence. Since no one buzzes in, Ken eases a shrugging crowd, answering, “What is Skims?”

Notably, all the other celebrity clues were figured out by Jeopardy! the players. In addition to Kim Kardashian, Gwyneth Paltrow’s lifestyle brand, Goop was a clue. Furthermore, so was Jessica Alba with the players guessing her wellness brand, the Honest Company. Along with those, there were shoutouts for Hailey Bieber with Rhode Skincare, and Machine Gun Kelly’s nail polish brand Un/Dun Laqr. However, Kim’s brand was the only one that got crickets as a response.

But Jeopardy! fans were taking note of the laughable encounter during the episode. Redditors quickly chime in after watching the odd interaction. But others believe it was a direct promotion of Kim Kardashian’s brand, Skims.

  • “All the other clues in the category were answered correctly.”
