Sarah Wayne Callies has just made some disparaging comments about her time on the TV series Prison Break. Callies said that there were a lot of problems on the set. She also mentioned she can’t watch the show now without triggering her memories of how she was treated. This involves one actor even spitting in her face.

Here is what Callies said about her time on the popular drama series.

Sarah Wayne Callies Calls Prison Break Set Toxic

Prison Break aired on Fox from 2005 to 2008. It also had a revival and a fifth season that aired in 2017. The show stars Dominic Purcell as Lincoln Burrows, a man wrongly convicted of murdering the brother of the Vice President of the United States. He was sentenced to death and his brother, Michael Scofield (Wentworth Miller) plans to break him out.

Sarah Wayne Callies stars in Prison Break as Sara Scofield. She was a main character in the first two seasons. She returned in season four, remaining in the cast until the end (including the Season 5 revival). She was Michael’s love interest and eventual wife and mother of their child. While she played a huge role in the story, especially in the last two seasons, Sarah said she doesn’t look back on it fondly.

Despite her bad memories, Sarah is doing a full rewatch and has a podcast called Prison Breaking that has her talking about the series. She said on Rachel Bilson’s Broad Ideas podcast that what she remembers most is the “rampant misogyny, despite all of the challenges” and that she was often the “only woman around.”

She then said that she had an actor on Prison Break literally spit in her face. Callies said she would talk about it more in detail on her own rewatch podcast when the time is right. However, she said that she would go home after work and “have to spend an hour talking my husband out of going to hospitalize somebody.”

What Is The Legacy Of Prison Break?

With Sarah Wayne Callies revealing this about Prison Break, it seems the show might take a beating. However, as she is rewatching it and talking about the episodes, she doesn’t want to throw everyone under the bus. She said, “some of the guys were great, and some of them were totally gentlemen.” She, once again, didn’t name names.

She also said she almost didn’t want to do the rewatch podcast because “I didn’t want it to send me into a spiral.” She didn’t want to spend all the time wondering why she let them treat her the way they did. However, she said she made “lifelong friends” on the show. She also said she never shared scenes with women, which she calls a “missed opportunity.”

As for anyone who wants to see another Prison Break revival after the last season, don’t hold your breath. Wentworth Miller said he won’t return, as he no longer wants to play straight characters in movies and TV shows so he can be a better representation of who he is. However, Dominic Purcell said he would be interested in returning.
