Second Prison Break Reboot Confirmed: Will Wentworth Miller Return?

According to TV Line, the second Prison Break reboot is NOT expected to feature the original cast members. That, however, doesn’t mean Hulu might not try to reach out to a few cast members in the hopes of a cameo appearance as somewhat of an Easter egg to the original fans of the series.

It, however, doesn’t sound as if the streaming giant is looking to follow a storyline that involves the original cast. The reboot, which is being referred to as a spin-off, is being described as happening “in the same world” as the original series.

Wentworth Miller Unlikely To Return

Fans of Prison Break can be almost certain Wentworth Miller will never revive his role as jailbird Michael Scofield. As fans who follow his career know, he came out of the closet in 2013.

While he did sign on for the Season 5 revival, he has no interest in reviving the character again. In fact, Wentworth Miller has stated in interviews that he will only play the role of gay male characters going forward.

He said in the interview addressing Prison Break fans directly:  “I just don’t want to play straight characters. Their stories have been told (and told). So… no more Michael. If you were a fan of the show, hoping for additional seasons… I understand this is disappointing. I’m sorry.”

Furthermore, the actor has been fairly off the grid since receiving his diagnosis of autism. Receiving the diagnosis opened the actor’s eyes to a whole new world. Suddenly, he had a much more vivid understanding of who he was and why he did some of the things he did.

Prison Break Reboot: Would Dominic Purcell Return?

Based on Dominic Purcell’s Instagram activity over the years, fans can assume the actor would likely be open to being on the reboot in some capacity. The actor spent years trolling fans and adding fuel to rumors of Season 6. Moreover, he never really declared he wouldn’t return to the show the same way Wentworth Miller did.

He, however, did tell fans to stop bombarding him with Season 6 comments a while back.

At this time, many fans wonder if the reboot will tell a story adjacent to the original story happening around the same time. Or, will the spin-off jump into the future?

Understandably, fans are hesitant to celebrate the return of the series without the original cast. The series, however, always had a massive following. And, the following is open to giving the spin-off a chance.

What do you think about Hulu taking a stab at a Prison Break reboot? Could you enjoy a spin-off without the OG cast? Share your thoughts in the comments. And, keep coming back for more TV news.
