‘Young Sheldon’ Finale: How Jim Parsons, Mayim Bialik Return
The Young Sheldon finale is coming. In a surprising move, Jim Parsons and Mayim Bialik will appear for the first time in the series. Parsons played Sheldon Cooper in The Big Bang Theory. Bialik played Amy, who married Sheldon in that series. While Parsons narrated Young Sheldon, he has never physically appeared in the series.
Bialik has also done some voice-over, but also never physically appeared. That all changes with the finale and CBS revealed how this will happen.
How Will Adult Sheldon & Amy Appear On Young Sheldon Finale?
CBS shocked fans when they announced that Jim Parsons and Mayim Bialik were appearing in the Young Sheldon finale. The series had made it to the end without ever showing the adult Sheldon on screen, but it seems the producers want to offer fans a special treat of bringing in the original Sheldon for the last episode.
While it was not known how the adult Sheldon and Amy would come to appear on Young Sheldon, CBS released a sneak peek that spoils the returns. The scene has Sheldon talking to his sister and then adult Sheldon narrates the scene by saying, “Even as a child, I was doing things to make other people happy.”
That is when the screen freezes and Amy stops him. It flashes to the adult versions as Sheldon is writing his memoir (which is what Young Sheldon turned out to be). Amy mocks him for saying he makes other people happy, and the two begin to argue like an old couple. She asks if he is writing a memoir or a fantasy novel.
Sheldon points out that “memoir” comes from the word memory. He argues that he works to make Amy happy once a year on her birthday. He then says he tries to make people happy all the time. She argues that, while she was giving birth, he Zoomed into a seminar. He then blamed her, saying she was taking forever to dilate. He said he already contributed to “the project” — on her birthday.
It was a perfect moment and should make Big Bang Theory fans happy in the Young Sheldon finale.
What To Expect From Young Sheldon Finale
In a smart move, George Sr. already died in the final season, so the Young Sheldon finale won’t have to show the sad moment. It also seems that he was not as bad of a person as Big Bang Theory made him out to be. However, the discovery that this is Sheldon Cooper’s “memories” might make it much more optimistic than real life.
The showrunners said they didn’t want to end a series that was mostly a happy family show with a tragedy, saying that would leave a sour taste in viewer’s mouths. Instead, they had George die early and now the last episode can show the family moving on with their new lives after that moment.
Now, the wait is on for the Young Sheldon spinoff series about George Jr and Mandy.
