‘MAFS’ Season 18 Will Take Place In Chicago With 5 New Couples
Married At First Sight is headed to the Windy City for the second time. Ten new singles will meet for the first time and get married. After a disappointing Season 17, many MAFS fans are excited to see what the next installment of the series has in store. Keep reading to see what has been revealed so far.
Dr. Pia Holec Welcomes Everyone To Chicago
Season 18 will take place in Chicago, Illinois. This is the second time the Married At First Sight franchise will be in the Windy City. The first time the Lifetime series filmed in Chicago was for Season 5 back in 2017. Fan favorite couple Ashley Petta and Anthony D’Amico met during Season 5. So, that could be a good sign for the upcoming season.
Fans got a glimpse of the teaser trailer for Season 18 during the second part of the MAFS Season 17 reunion. In the clip, Dr. Pia Holec welcomed the other “love experts” Dr. Pepper Schwartz and Pastor Cal Roberson to Chicago. She said, “I am so excited. Chicago is a great place to find love.”
“There’s some really great people and their ready for this,” Pastor Cal continued. The teaser then cuts to the interviews with potential matches.
Viewers will meet five new couples in Chicago. The experts matched Allen and Madison, Thomas and Camille, Ikechi and Emem, Juan and Karla, and David and Michelle, according to mafsfan.
What Changes Will There Be In The MAFS Franchise?
Then the video seems to hint at another runaway bride, which happened in Season 17 as well. “I really don’t know if I can do this,” the bride’s voice is heard saying in the clip. Another voice can be heard asking, “Is she really running away?”
This season of Married At First Sight needs to be successful for the fans. Many viewers were extremely disappointed with how things played out in Season 17. The Denver cast admitted that they banded together to control their own storylines on television rather than trying to find love and work on their relationships. During the reunion, host Kevin Frazier promised that there would be “major changes” for the MAFS franchise.
Several MAFS fans took to Instagram to share how they felt about the Season 17 cast’s deception. “Kevin, I’m disappointed with the entire Denver cast. I have been a fan of MAFS since season 1. The last 4 seasons have been a snooze. It’s time for a shake up!!” one fan wrote.
Kevin Frazier replied, “There are some changes being made with Chicago … people really come on saying they want to get married and be in love, then don’t want to be married or in love.”
Thankfully, fans will be able to move on from Season 17 soon. The Chicago weddings have already taken place in August 2023 at the Intercontinental Hotel in Chicago.
Lifetime has not yet announced when Season 18 of Married At First Sight will premiere, but it is expected to debut sometime later this year.
