On social media, frustrated Hearties are accusing Hallmark writers of recycling old material for WCTH Season 11. Whether you call this deja vu or Groundhog Day, both Team Lucas and Team Nathan fans are united here. They are unhappy with what they saw in the premiere.

What have these fans pointed out?

It’s Groundhog Day On When Calls The Heart Season 11

After a startling WCTH Season 10 breakup and cliffhanger, the writers on the Hallmark series had a tall order to fill. They had the thankless job of creating a new world after everything blew up last season.

However, Hearties were not happy with the final result. On Reddit, in a post titled “Why does it feel like Season 9 all over again?” one fan was unhappy with some familiar storylines.

Does ANYBODY care that Lucas gets hurt after Elizabeth dumps him the same way Nathan gets hurt in Season 9?

Next week is a surprise party for Nathan. Lucas literally does this in Season 9 for Elizabeth after she writes and publishes her book. She finds out ahead and has to pretend to be shocked. so does Nathan.

So what is it? Lucas gets criticized and devalued by Elizabeth, so she lives the “perfect” life with Nathan, doing for him all the things Lucas did for her?

To refresh fan’s memories, back in Season 9, recently rejected by Elizabeth, Nathan got hurt and wound up at the infirmary. In Season 11, Lucas, who was recently rejected by Elizabeth, winds up shot and in the infirmary.

Next, in Season 9, Lucas plans a birthday party for Elizabeth. Fast forward two years and Elizabeth is planning a surprise birthday party for Nathan.

Most of all, fans feel that these storylines are recycled.

Team Nathan Fans Upset At Deja Vu WCTH Romance

In another Reddit post, under the title “Why I Think Viewership Was Down This Season” expressed their frustration. This WCTH fan is on Team Nathan, but pointed out that what they are seeing is from Season 8.

Watching this season feels like watching 50% of Season 8–so why bother watching it?

I’ve already experienced Elizabeth and Nathan making googly eyes at each other. I’VE SEEN them having cute-unexpected meetings in the street, and stolen glances, and will-they-won’t-they moments. I’ve been there, done that-3 years ago!

Next, this same poster shared how upset they are because of all the pre-season promo that revealed that Nathan and Elizabeth are “endgame.”

And now the cast have gone on record to tell me who she’ll end up with…So, where’s the mystery? Where’s the intrigue? Where’s the tug for me to keep watching when I’m already familiar with a lot of the content?

Then, they ended it with, “No discredit to the actors. Nathan’s a great love interest–I just know this, because I’ve already seen this :)”

WCTH Writers Were On Strike

Could some of the storyline repetition be due to the WGA strike? Although WCTH got special permission to film from SAG-AFTRA, the word from the network was that the Canadian writers wrote a lot of the episodes.

Whatever the case, Hearties are unhappy that the stories are too familiar, and that the promotional interviews revealed too much.

Hearties, what do you think of these deja vu storylines? Do you think these Hearties were unfair to the WCTH writers?
