Where’s Fiona? Hearties Wonder What Happened to ‘WCTH’ Star Kayla Wallace
When Hearties tuned into the WCTH Season 11 premiere episode “When Stars Align,” they were surprised to learn that Fiona Miller, portrayed by Kayla Wallace, was missing.
What happened to the character and the actress who portrays her?
Erin Krakow explained some of what happened.
Hearties Wonder What Happened To Fiona On WCTH Season 11 Premiere
In the WCTH Season 11 premiere episode entitled “When Stars Align,” Hearties learned that Fiona Miller, portrayed by Kayla Wallace, was missing.
In a scene where Minnie (Natasha Burnett) and Faith (Andrea Brooks) are chatting, Minnie has some news to share. She revealed to the doctor that Fiona was working with his sister and the Suffragettes on behalf of women’s rights. Moreover, it didn’t sound like Fiona was returning to Hope Valley any time soon.
What happened?
According to TV Insider, who spoke to Erin Krakow, it was because of another work commitment. “We love Kayla Wallace. We would love for her to be in every episode. Kayla had a really incredible opportunity on another TV series that films out of town. We’re excited for her.”

Kayla Wallace Is Currently Filming Taylor Sheridan’s Landman
Fiona Miller is not currently in Hope Valley for WCTH Season 11, Actress Kayla Wallace is starring in another series. What is she starring in? Kayla is starring in Taylor Sheridan’s new Paramount+ series Landman. This new series by the Yellowstone creator stars some heavy hitters including Demi Moore and Jon Hamm.
The Landman announcement was in late January, and they started filming about the same time. But they filmed When Calls The Heart Season 11 between July and November 2023. Why was Kayla not in those episodes?
Erin Krakow may have just kept the message simple. It seems likely that Landman was originally going to go into production at the same time as When Calls The Heart. However, because of the two strikes, that series was on pause until the strikes were resolved. On the other hand, When Calls The Heart got special permission to film during the strikes.
Why didn’t Kayla just return to Hope Valley as the season was on hold? Because if the strikes were resolved, she would be in a pickle. In addition, the scripts were likely written without her.

Could Kayla Wallace Return to WCTH?
As for the future, could Kayla Wallace reprise her role as Fiona Miller on WCTH? Erin seemed hopeful. “We are hoping that we’ll be able to have Fiona back for some episodes. Who knows? But yeah, we truly, truly over the moon thrilled for Kayla.”
Hearties may feel a loss without Fiona, who has been on the series since Season 6, but Faith is going to have a really hard time. It should be interesting to see how she handles this.
