My 600-lb Life alum Wess Schulze is one of the most successful patients of Dr. Now. He appeared in Season 11, weighing 705 pounds. He had a difficult life after his parents divorced. The Texas native grew up with his father. However, he wasn’t able to maintain a healthy lifestyle due to the large meals his dad frequently made. Things got more complicated when he came out as gay. His father got upset, and he resorted to food to cope with the sadness. But despite all the struggles, Wess showed dedication to turning his life around. My 600-lb Life: Wess Schulze’s Weight Loss Journey

Wess didn’t waste time and followed Dr. Now’s weight loss regimens. The My 600-lb Life alum quickly lost enough weight to qualify for bariatric surgery. He also sought a therapist to deal with his childhood trauma. It was revealed that Wess was molested by a family member, which pushed him to become “undesirable” by gaining weight. By the end of his episode, he was able to shed 228 pounds, bringing him down to 447 lbs. Wess has also kept in touch with the fans online, and many of his photos today show that he’s still pursuing physical goals.

Wess Shares Update After Major Surgery

In an Instagram post, Wess shared a clip of himself thanking his fans for all the support and encouragement. The My 600-lb Life alum later revealed that he recently had emergency surgery to remove his gallbladder. He also said that he’s been in severe pain, and he’s been at the hospital for two nights. “They have had me on a rotation of morphine and oxy every 3 hours, lol. Finally started to feel better this morning around 1 a.m.!” he added.

Wess Schulze also said that Dr. Now saw his gallbladder, and it was in such bad shape that if he waited one more day, it would’ve ruptured. The former TLC star ended his message by saying, “Hopefully I get to go home today. Love you all!”

Aside from his recent surgery, Wess has also been doing great in his weight loss journey. He’s been sharing the results of his healthy diet. In February, the My 600-lb Life alum uploaded a shirtless clip of himself showing off the excess skin he has after shedding so much weight. Wess Schulze has also been asking for donations to help support his journey and other medical expenses.
