Tori Spelling filed for divorce from her estranged husband, Dean McDermott. This is after a 10-month-long separation. It appears the estranged couple are both ready to move on with what will be their new separate lives.

Tori Spelling Files For Divorce

Tori Spelling filed for divorce from her husband, Dean McDermott, yesterday March 29, 2024. In the divorce documents submitted to the court, she cited irreconcilable differences.

The divorce comes after reports that Tori Spelling had been unhappy for years. Despite her unhappiness, the now-divorcing couple tried their best to save their 18-year marriage. It has been reported the biggest reason they worked so hard to avoid a divorce was due to the five children the couple have together.

The Final Straw To Their Marriage?

It appears the final straw to their marriage was a meeting at a storage unit where they both store some of their belonging. The meeting did not go well. It ended with Tori Spelling having an emotional breakdown, crying alone, behind the wheel of her SUV.

Based on additional reports, this may not have been the final straw. That meeting could have been when Tori Spelling realized they were both in “better places” and ready to move on with their lives. This could have been the reason the former star of Beverly Hills, 90210 was seen crying. She finally knew it was time for both of them to start their lives as a divorced couple and parents.

Dean McDermott’s Addictions

Being in better places in their lives more than likely includes the fact Dean McDermott is claiming to be “clean and sober.” He has spent time in a rehab center, fighting his addictions. He gives credit to both Tori Spelling and his new girlfriend for being able to better control his addictions.

Dean McDermott’s addictions may very well be one of the main reasons Tori Spelling put off filing for divorce for so long. She clearly loves McDermott and wants the best for him. Perhaps she was afraid, if she filed for divorce sooner, he would have had more difficulty with his addictions.

Beverly Hills, 90210 Co-Stars Rally Behind Tori Spelling

Both Jenny Garth and Ian Ziering have come forward and are publicly rallying around their Beverly Hills, 90210 former co-star. Both have admitted they have maintained close friendships with Spelling and will be there to support her during her divorce.

Jenny Garth stated she felt as if Tori Spelling was more of a “sister” than a friend. Ian Ziering said he would always be there to support her. At least Tori Spelling will not be alone in this latest chapter of her life.

What About The Five Children?

In the divorce documents, Tori Spelling is asking for sole custody of her five children – Beau, 7, Finn, 11, Hattie, 12, and Stella, 15, and Liam, 17. She is also wanting Dean McDermott to have visitation rights, despite requesting she kept physical custody of their children.

Even though Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott have had their differences and are now divorcing, they both want what is best for their five children. It appears Tori Spelling believes her continuing to have the children, not changing their current living arrangement, is what is best for them.
