Wendy Williams Was Struggling Throughout The Lifetime Doc
Where Is Wendy Williams? gave viewers an inside look at the star’s life after the end of her long-running daytime talk show. Wendy Williams was on television for 14 years and, prior to that, had a successful career in radio. Initially, the docuseries producers set out to film Wendy’s comeback.
After her show was canceled, Wendy was reportedly working on developing her own podcast or potentially getting back on TV with a new show. The series aimed to document how she bounced back in the midst of her health and personal struggles. However, what the camera crew wound up capturing is something akin to a spiral into madness.

Scenes showing Wendy Williams being erratic and confused were common throughout the series. At one point, it is discovered that she’s been drinking. Her manager, Will Selby, holds up a bottle of vodka and asks Wendy if she had been drinking all day. She admits that she had. It is clear that the former talk show host was struggling.
Just two days before the series made its debut, Wendy’s medical team shared her official diagnosis: progressive aphasia and frontotemporal dementia (FTD). Her son, Kevin Hunter Jr., shared that her condition was alcohol-induced in the documentary.
Given this information, fans have been wondering who was supplying Wendy with the alcohol she was drinking in the series. At that point, she had already been admitted into a treatment facility for alcohol abuse once. When she is around family members, they refuse her access to booze. So, who is giving it to her?
Who Is Supplying Wendy Williams With Alcohol?
One fan took to Reddit to pose this question. “In the doc, Alex would always say he came to Wendy’s apartment and there would be bottles and signs of drinking,” they wrote. Then they pointed out that Wendy Williams is supposed to be in guardianship at this time. “So where is this guardian? What is he or [she] actually DOING for Wendy?” they asked.
The user posed a number of other questions about why the family was alienated and what would happen to her estate when she passed away. More importantly, they asked, who is giving Wendy alcohol?
“She’s probably Doordashing it or something,” one fan commented. Another agreed, “I’m in recovery and [DoorDash] was my best friend when I was drinking. So easily delivered.” A third confirmed that Will Selby says she has it delivered in the docuseries.

Others took the time to discuss the guardianship and what it means for Wendy. “I think she was initially appointed a financial guardian because Wells Fargo had concerns about her finances,” one Reddit user wrote. “I don’t think that person was responsible for her day-to-day needs or healthcare.”
Another person clarified, “Guardianship is a status – not a service.” While her financial transactions had to be run through her guardian, it was also pointed out that Will was giving her cash at times because she didn’t have free access to money. So, it is likely she was using what her manager was giving her for booze.
Wendy Williams’ family plans to apply to become her financial guardian so that they can have more of a say in her recovery and life moving forward. They are currently awaiting a guardianship hearing this year.
