Tori Spelling Reveals ‘Red Flags’ She Saw With Dean McDermott
Tori Spelling filed for divorce from her husband, Dean McDermott, last Friday, on March 29. This happened almost a year after the couple had decided to separate. It was during the premiere episode of her podcast, misSpelling, the former star of Beverly Hills, 90210, revealed she had seen “red flags” during her relationship with her now-estranged husband.
Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott’s Last-Known Meeting
The last-known meeting between Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott happened at a storage unit. This is where they store some of their belongings. Their meeting did not go very well for them.
Tori Spelling was seen throwing a plastic bag full of their belongings into the air. After Dean McDermott left, she got in her SUV. The former child star was seen behind the wheel, alone and crying.
Tori Spelling Files For Divorce
Shortly after their meeting at the storage unit, Tori Spelling filed for divorce. This was on Good Friday, March 29, 2024. The divorce papers filed in court stated the reason she was filing for divorce was “irreconcilable differences.”
In the divorce, Tori Spelling requested to have full custody of their five children. She also wants to share joint legal custody with Dean McDermott. The paperwork stated she was offering her estranged husband visitation with their five children.
The “Red Flags” In Their Relationship
Tori Spelling revealed she had seen “red flags” in their relationship. Those red flags started early in their relationship, even before they were married.
“I like saying that I just like to make dresses out of red flags and then proceeded. But yeah, there were definitely red flags. He had anger issues and that started while we were dating, like, 4 months in,” Tori Spelling admitted.
The Beverly Hills, 90210 former star continued explaining those red flags. She stated one of those red flags was “his temper.” His temper was often fueled by his use of alcohol.
Tori Spelling Danced On Eggshells
“So when he would drink, it was hard because I knew that at some point, it would turn,” Tori Spelling explained. “And I knew, you know, it was always different. It could be 2 drinks, it could be 5, 6 drinks. And then I would just see it turn and I’m like, ‘Oh, here we go.’ And then that became my dance on the eggshells.”
Tori Spelling did not stop there. “No matter what I said it wasn’t right and I would have to, in my head be like, ‘Okay, quick quick quick on your toes.’ It was like a fight. A mental fight. ‘I think he might aim here and if he aims here with what he says, I’m going to respond this way and it’ll take him down.’ And it got to the point where nothing would make sense and I would just know to stop talking.”
Despite all these red flags, Tori, somehow, made their marriage work for 18 years. She fought long and hard to avoiding having to divorce Dean McDermott. Even with all her hard work, she still filed for divorce.
