Joey Graziadei has been called a lot of things lately – sweet, genuine, the best Bachelor ever. But one thing he hasn’t been called is a pop culture enthusiast. The professional tennis instructor turned reality star made headlines earlier this month by confusing Gypsy Rose Blanchard with an iconic Supreme Court Justice.
He outdid himself shortly afterward with another shocking admission. During an appearance on Live With Kelly and Mark, Kathie Lee Gifford’s name was brought up as a possible lead for the first-ever Golden Bachelorette.
Joey earned boos and jeers from the studio audience when he said he didn’t know who Kathie Lee Gifford was. The insult! Especially on a soundstage where she spent 15 years!
Kathie Lee Gifford was Regis Philbin’s sidekick and co-host on Live! with Regis and Kathie Lee from 1985 to 2000. Soap star Kelly Ripa replaced her as co-host in 2001. Regis Philbin passed away in 2020. Kelly Ripa continued to host the ABC talk show with a series of co-hosts. Her husband and fellow actor Mark Consuelos joined as co-host in 2023.
Kathie Lee Gifford went on to co-host the TODAY Show with Hoda Kotb from 2008 until 2019.

The internet was aghast at Joey for not knowing who the long-time talk show host was. Days after the story went viral, Kathie Lee Gifford broke her silence on the situation.
And, of course, she used her famous humor to respond. She shared a clip of the viral moment on Twitter, writing, “I don’t expect him to know me. I’ve got shoes that are older than this kid is!”
