Did Wendy Williams Forget Her Famous Catchphrase?
Since the release of the Where Is Wendy Williams Lifetime docuseries, many people have taken to social media to share their thoughts. Several viewers said the documentary put them in a “dark mood.” Others have expressed love and concern for the former daytime talk show host. Now, fans are pointing out that Wendy may have forgotten her signature catchphrase. Keep reading to see why they believe she may have forgotten this key part of her personality and career.
Producers Express Some Regret In Filming Documentary
After the documentary aired on Lifetime over the weekend, the producers of the series have expressed some regret in filming some of the scenes. Although they were given the go-ahead from Wendy’s team, there were points throughout the filming of the project that didn’t feel right.
In one scene, the film crew asks to get out of the car after they have spent what seemed like hours circling the same block in New York City. Wendy Williams asked the driver to go past The Wendy Williams Show studios over and over again. Then, she claimed that the e-cigarette her publicist picked up for her was not the right one.
She continued to get more and more agitated. Eventually, the film crew stepped in and tried to assist in the situation. They left the car and Wendy reportedly made it back home later that evening. This was just one of the intense and deeply emotional moments in the doc.
Producer Mark Ford and others from the Lifetime team have said that if they knew about Wendy’s condition they would have never rolled the cameras. Just a few days before the series was released, the star’s care team shared her official diagnosis. Wendy Williams has progressive aphasia and frontotemporal dementia. At times during the documentary, it is clear that Wendy is having trouble remembering things and communicating.
Did Wendy Williams Forget Her Famous Saying?
Fans have been weighing in on various parts of the documentary. Many of them find it sad to watch Wendy Williams, who used to be so happy and vibrant, look so defeated. Some have opened up about how the series brought out a dark mood in them for days after watching.
Others have pointed out surprising moments throughout the four-part series. Most recently, viewers noticed that when she was approached in Hollywood near her star on the Walk of Fame fans were greeting her with her signature catchphrase, “How you doin’?” However, Wendy didn’t say it back.
In fact, it seemed like Wendy had completely forgotten the phrase altogether, even though she used to say it on a daily basis. One person on Reddit wrote, “I did notice that she didn’t say it once during the whole documentary. It’s all very upsetting.” Another agreed, “Yeah, that was her signature line and she didn’t say it back. The Wendy we are used to watching everyday when she had her talk show is basically gone with the addiction and [dementia].”
Others chimed in saying that they believed Shawn, her publicist in the documentary, should have been charged for taking Wendy Williams across state lines without permission from her guardian. The entire trip to Los Angeles seemed exploitative.
Where Is Wendy Williams is available to stream on Amazon Prime. It will also air again on live TV on Friday, March 1 at 8 p.m. EST on Lifetime.
