The Lifetime production has received a lot of media attention leading up to its premiere and fans have been heavily invested in hearing Wendy’s story. However, after viewing the documentary, many people have admitted to feeling depressed. Fans are opening up about their emotional reactions to the series online. Fans Put In A Dark Place After Seeing Wendy’s Documentary

One Reddit user opened up the discussion in a /WendyWilliams subreddit. They started by saying, “I [can’t] describe it but seeing this documentary [put] me in the weirdest mood. this was so heavy to watch. Is anyone else just in such a strange mood after seeing Wendy?”

They continued, “It was dark. In such a different way. Seeing someone that has been such a funny influence on our lives have dementia is so heavy.”

The person tried to imagine what it was like being Wendy, who was acting erratic in public, but whose mind was deteriorating at the same time. “Like she genuinely doesn’t know what’s wrong,” the fan wrote. They then shared that seeing Wendy Williams act this way sent them into their own cognitive fog.

As it turns out, they aren’t the only viewer feeling this way after watching the Lifetime documentary.

Who Is Looking Out For Wendy Williams?

Many people took to the comments to talk about how “heavy” and “dark” the documentary felt. A number of fans said that they found themselves crying over the last few days after watching it, thinking about Wendy and the outcome of it all.

Several people expressed disappointment in the people surrounding Wendy Williams throughout the documentary. “It just made me sad and angry at the system and partially her family. They should’ve done more sooner,” one person sounded off in the comments. 

Another person mentioned Wendy’s trip to Los Angeles and how infuriating it was to watch the former daytime talk show host get her hopes up to be let down. “That weirdo dragging her to LA under the hope of a new show was just…Sad,” the fan wrote. “It’s Wendy and she wouldn’t ever have to beg normally. That chick was dragging her like a man in a white van with candy. Just dangling and it was infuriating.”

There were a few people who questioned whether or not the producers of the series exploited her in any way. After all, they captured some extremely intimate moments, including a scene where she sits down with Blac Chyna and removes her wig. “It felt icky to watch,” one fan shared.

Producers of the docuseries have spoken out about what it was like to film the project and how they went about deciding what would be included and what would not. They say that they did their best to tell Wendy’s story without putting her in a bad light or exploiting her in any way.
