Ex-NFL Player Shocks With Amazing Talent On ‘American Idol’
Blake Proehl is on the lips of Katy Perry right now, while all eyes are on her because she announced her departure from the talent show this month. Some good talent is out there, but it seems that Perry gets most of the headlines. However, Blake Proehl, formerly an NFL player is talented and also comes with a heartbreaking story. So, plenty of people seem impressed with him.
Blake Proehl Faces Tough Competition
24-year-old newcomer, Proehle is not the only contestant with a heartbreaking story. 15-year-old Triston Harper amazed the judges with his talent. Those who watched his audition heard that he grew up in Alabama, but he and his mom ended up homeless. Four years ago, his grandfather came to the rescue and he now sings his heart out.
Blake Proehl is 24, and not a child anymore. However, he saw his childhood dreams crash and burn long before American Idol was on his radar. As a child, he worshipped his dad, Ricky who even played at the Super Bowl. His brother also did well in the sport. However, NJ Entertainment noted that after being “drafted to the Minnesota Vikings in the 2021 NFL Draft, [he] played for three years as a wide receiver before severely injuring his knee.”
American Idol Contestant Was In The NFL
During his audition, he described his broken-up body and the end of his career to Luke Bryan, and Katy Perry, and he broke down. You can watch the whole video about him further down in this article. Anyway, thanks to his grandmother, who encouraged him to go into music, the former NFL star performed before the judges.
American Idol fans were so encouraging in the comments on YouTube. Blake Proehl sang while his grandmother stood next to him at the piano. Katy Perry got emotional and claimed he was a star in the making. Fans cheered for him.
- You didn’t “lose” your career, you were redirected. Best wishes in this path!!!
- Wow, that voice. I’m tearing up. It’s so soft, smooth, and tender. I did not expect that at all. Pleasantly surprised. Early favorite, for sure.
- This is the second best rendition of “In Case You Didn’t Know” I’ve ever heard. Thank you for blessing us, Blake. This will go down in the Top 10 of All Time.
- I love how Blake embraced his destiny even when it hurt so much and came back with a clear focus on his blessings and passion. Great Audition 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
- He’s got a very calming yet emotive voice. I actually liked him the best of all the contestants tonight. Good job!
