Although the news of Katy Perry leaving the cast of American Idol comes as a shock, now an eyewitness let fans in on a deliberate diversion. Before announcing the surprising news, Katy was dodging Ryan Seacrest on set before her big news release.

Although Katy Perry has called American Idol her home for seven seasons, she has let fans know it is time for her to get back to her music roots. On Jimmy Kimmel Live, Katy reveals, “So I think this will probably be my last season for Idol.” Then she adds, “I love Idol so much. It’s connected me with the heart of America, but I need to feel that pulse of my own beat.” Then connecting with her music she says, “I love the show so much but I wanna go and see the world and maybe bring new music.” But the pop star also let it slip that she hadn’t told her dear cohosts, Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan. Admittedly, they would be learning the news along with the public through that very show.

Katy Perry Awkwardly Avoids Ryan Seacrest

Seemingly, Katy Perry was awkwardly avoiding American Idol show host, Ryan Seacrest, on the set. Undoubtedly, it was tense leading up to Katy’s news she would be leaving the show she had come to love dearly. On Monday night, she unveiled her intentions that the upcoming season of American Idol would be her last. Photos taken at the Aulani Disney Resort in Kapolei, Hawaii show the cast of the competition spending time together. On Thursday, they were filming in Hawaii for the upcoming season of American Idol. Surrounding the cast were Minnie and Mickey characters in their floral outfits for their Hawaiian theme. But Katy’s actions were a bit muted and distant from the other show members.

An Eyewitness Talks About The Strange Interactions

Notably, an eyewitness gives details to American Idol fans about Katy Perry’s noticeable standoffish behavior. The source says, “I noticed interactions between Katy and Ryan Seacrest were pretty icy and they would only interact when the cameras were rolling.” Also noted, “Otherwise, they would just pass each other and not even look in each other’s direction.” Further expressing the chilled interaction, “For the most part, Katy kept to herself unlike prior years on set, and there really seemed to be a distance between herself and the other judges.” Additionally, the insider reports, “She has always been particularly close with Luke Bryan and Lionel but this year, she would film her segment and leave the set as soon as she could.”
