Is Anna Cardwell’s widower, Eldridge Toney, an active stepfather to the two daughters she left behind? Anna was a mama to Kaitlyn and Kylee who are living in different homes. So, has Eldridge been able to keep up with the girls over the last two months? Read on for more details.
Is Anna Cardwell’s Widower An Active Stepfather?
Anna Cardwell passed away at the age of 29 from stage 4 adrenal carcinoma in early December. She had been with Eldridge Toney since 2017 and, to fans’ surprise, the two wed. They did so after her cancer diagnosis and on camera in March 2023. Yet, it was not revealed for some time and was shown in the season premiere of Family Crisis. Anna shared she was ready to get married and her brother-in-law, Josh Efird became a minister online so he could officiate the nuptials. This was not Anna’s first marriage as she was with Michael Cardwell prior and they had daughter, Kylee.
When Anna was a teenager, she had her eldest child, Kaitlyn, who Michael had become equally as close to. However, with Eldridge in the picture, he became another father figure, as well. Now that Anna has passed, Kylee lives with her father and Kaitlyn is with Mama June and Justin Stroud. Michael is fighting for custody of both girls but in the meantime, how active is Eldridge in their lives? Does he still see them or has he let them grieve on their own? According to In Touch Weekly, he is doing the best that he can under the circumstances.
He spoke with People about Anna Cardwell’s daughters and this is what he had to say:
“I have been seeing them as much as I can. I’ve been staying really persistent on seeing both of them. I pretty much know June and Justin’s schedule. But as far as Kylee, I don’t get to see her as much, but I still do see her as much as possible.”
So, essentially, seeing Kaitlyn has been far easier since she is very close to where he is but Kylee is more difficult. However, it is great to see he is making the best effort possible.
Another Father
Eldridge Toney also shared the conversation that he had with Michael Cardwell when he started dating Anna Cardwell.
“You know because I’ve been with Anna so long, we’ve had these conversations where I’ve sat down with Michael and Anna, and Michael looked at me like I was going to be another father to his daughter and he was OK with that. I am making sure I stay true to the promise I made to Anna. I love watching the girls grow up.”
He had promised Anna he would do right by Kaitlyn and Kylee, that they would truly know who she was. Now, Eldridge has an obligation to keep that promise.
