JoJo Siwa Thanks ‘DWTS’ Partner For Help With Insecurities
JoJo Siwa didn’t win her season of Dancing With The Stars, but she walked away with something better.
After leaving DWTS Season 30, she gained many friendships and a better sense of self-love and security. Now, she’s thanking her dance partner for that.
JoJo partnered with pro dancer Jenna Johnson for the season, marking the first same-sex couple in DWTS history. They finished in second place behind NBA star Iman Shumpert and Daniella Karagach.
JoJo Siwa is sincerely grateful for her time with Jenna Johnson
It’s not at all uncommon for DWTS pro dancers to form lifelong friendships with their celebrity partners. Some partners go on to fall in love and marry, like Britt Stewart and Daniel Durant.
Now, JoJo Siwa is reflecting fondly on her time with Jenna Johnson while competing on DWTS.
“I’m very insecure about my body,” the 20-year-old admitted on Kelly Rizzo’s podcast, Comfort Food with Kelly Rizzo. PEOPLE obtained a sneak peek of the interview. “It used to be very bad. Pre Dancing With The Stars.”
JoJo went on to say that she obsessively wore big, baggy clothing around that time because she was so worried about what others thought. During the first week of rehearsals on DWTS, Jenna Johnson immediately caught on to JoJo’s insecurities. Jenna asked JoJo to remove her baggy T-shirt.
“I was like, ‘Jen, I can’t… like [that’s] going to open a can of worms that I’ve suppressed for years. I’m fine how I am. Like, I can’t, I can’t open this can of worms. Not today, not here, not now, not this year,’” JoJo recalled. Then the women walked to the mirror together and said some positive affirmations about their bodies to the mirror.

“We looked in the mirror and we said some affirmations and she said, ‘I’m going to help you,’” the former Dance Moms star continued. “She’s who got me into working out. She’s who got me into feeling good about myself. Got me into body confidence.”
The sky is the limit for the reality TV star
As JoJo Siwa continues her journey, there’s absolutely no stopping her now. After leaving DWTS, she went on to tour around the country and compete on other reality television shows.
Special Forces viewers were pleasantly surprised to see how far JoJo made it on the show. She also went on to judge the most recent season of So You Think You Can Dance and will replace Nigel Lythgoe in the upcoming season too.
