On January 21, former The Bachelor contestant Matt James took to the social claim to claim that he had just broken a world record.

The Season 25 star of The Bachelor uploaded a TikTok to show off his world record-breaking performance. James boarded a flight and decided to achieve something that nobody had accomplished before in history. At least that’s what James is hoping. “Just broke the world record for fastest mile recorded in an airplane ๐Ÿ…โœˆ๏ธ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿพโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ’จ,” he captioned his TikTok.

Before his appearance on The Bachelor, James attended the University Of Wake Forest. James was a member of the Demon Deacons football team for four years, though he was only active for one year. Despite trying out for the Carolina Panthers and the New Orleans Saints, James’ NFL fizzled out before it ever started. Although his dreams of being a professional athlete are past him, James values staying in shape. And he uses his reality TV star status to promote healthy living for his social media followers.

Matt James’ Attempt To Break A ‘World Record’

On Sunday, James once again decided to promote a healthy lifestyle. During his flight, he decided to attempt to walk a mile in 18 minutes. In his TikTok, says that he never “trained” at this high of an altitude before. So he loaded up on some Ramen noodles and gave the camera a thumbs up. James can then be seen standing up from his seat and removing his pants, revealing a pair of shorts underneath.

After some brief stretching, James began his attempt and started walking down the isles. He paused for a brief snack break before resuming his attempt.ย  “Even the flight attendants were rooting for me and helping me keep track of my laps,” James said in his video.

After doing 50 laps up and down the plane’s aisles, James completed his one-mile walk in just over 18 minutes. “Walking and moving on flights helps keep your blood flow going and prevent blood clots,” he said. “Victory meal, chicken and rice.”

Matt James Says That Exercise Brings Him ‘Peace Of Mind’

In an April 2021 interview with People, James revealed that exercise became a part of his routine for the sake of his mental health. “Everything that has been going on in my life and everything that’s gone on in the country over the past year โ€” from a social justice and from a COVID standpoint โ€” exercise is something that’s kept my mental health in the right place,” he said.

For James, he credits exercise with providing him an extra boost in addition to his therapy sessions. “A lot of people have therapists, and that’s something I’ve explored and it’s been extremely helpful,” James revealed. “Another way of having that peace of mind for me is exercising because when I’m taking care of myself from a physical standpoint, it cycles into the mental.”

Despite the public perception of what a runner looks like, James says that anybody is capable of becoming one. “I think a lot of people have a preconceived notion of what a runner looks like,” he said. “There’s not a prototypical runner. Everyone looks like a runner and everyone can enjoy it. It’s an inclusive thing, and that’s why I enjoy it so much.”
