Former Dancing With The Stars pro Cheryl Burke left the show at the end of Season 31. After departing, she went on to launch her own podcast, Sex, Lies, and Spray Tans. And she’s had plenty to say about the show since leaving.

However, she upset quite a few DWTS fans recently when she shared that she pitched her Mirrorball Trophies that she won back in the day.

So what exactly did Cheryl have to say and why did she do it? Keep reading to learn more.

Cheryl Burke discarded her Mirrorball Trophies

To win the Mirrorball Trophy on Dancing With The Stars is a huge honor. Most pro dancers dream of having the honor at least once. Judge Derek Hough holds the record for the most trophies at six wins. Cheryl Burke won two Mirrorball Trophies during her run on the show in Seasons 2 and 3.

But according to the dancer, she doesn’t care about the honor at all.

On Sex, Lies, and Spray Tans, Cheryl Burke has described several negative interactions she’s had on the show. Once, she even told listeners how other pro dancers once body-shamed her.

But when it comes to the Mirrorball Trophies, fans were utterly stunned to hear what the former pro really thought of them.

“It’s so cheap. The second season and third season of the Mirrorball Trophies were made of lampshades,” Cheryl informed her listeners. “Cute, yeah. It was like a joke, but not a joke.”

But what she said next really shocked listeners.

“That’s why mine is completely like, in the trash, because the mirrors have fallen off one by one,” she said.

Other pro dancers’ trophies have sustained damage, such as the ones belonging to Derek Hough and Artem Chigvintsev. But to fans’ knowledge, neither of them threw away the coveted prize.

DWTS didn’t invite her back for the Len Goodman tribute either

Long-time DWTS judge Len Goodman passed away before Season 32 began. As a result, many former pros returned to honor him. But neither Cheryl Burke nor Sharna Burgess received an invitation. Most fans believe it largely has to do with their respective podcasts about Dancing With The Stars.

“For those of you asking if I’ll be a part of Len Goodman’s tribute next week on DWTS, unfortunately, I wasn’t invited however, I’ll be there in spirit and can’t wait to cheer my former colleagues on!” the dancer shared on social media at the time. “Sending love and light to everyone. 🤍🙏🏼 #riplen.”

Cheryl also wanted Len’s seat as head judge after he retired, but the show reportedly turned her down. That could also be part of the reason for her hostility, but at the end of the day, fans may never know the truth.

Were you surprised to learn that Cheryl Burke threw out her Mirrorball Trophies? Do you agree with her decision or do you think it was a poor move on her part? Share your thoughts in the comments.
