Fans Livid At ‘Live’s Kelly and Mark’ Post-New Year Episode
Fans are used to pre-taped episodes of live daytime TV during the holiday break, but they’re not happy about Live’s Kelly and Mark after the post-New Year episode.
Actors and hosts also deserve some time off, and the guests don’t want to take time off from their holiday plans just to turn up live for an interview over this time of year. However, fans then expect everyone to get back to work when they usually would, and that means straight after the New Year celebrations. So, Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos have been named the “laziest multi-millionaires in daytime TV” due to their recent pre-taped episode.
When Did Live with Kelly and Mark Go to Pre-Taped Episodes?
The show went on its usual holiday break just ahead of Christmas. In fact, Kelly Ripa shared that she believed the break started earlier than it did. This was due to Andy Cohen coming to dinner and making it feel like holiday already.
The break actually started just ahead of Christmas. However, Live with Kelly and Mark continued throughout the holiday season with some pre-taped episodes. There were the odd reruns due to the day of the holiday, such as New Year’s Day. Fans didn’t complain about the strategic reruns or the pre-taped episodes during the holiday season. There was a lot going on. The complaints came as soon as the holiday season came to an end.
Did Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos Pre-Tape an Episode?
The Sun reports that Live with Kelly and Mark fans were livid when they realized that the Tuesday, Jan. 2 episode was pre-taped. The Monday episode was a rerun of an October episode, which made sense considering it was New Year’s Day. Most viewers would spend time with family or relax after their New Year’s Eve celebrations. However, fans expected the two daytime hosts to return to live episodes as soon as possible.
ABC made it clear that the episode was pre-taped. At the bottom of the episode, it states “previous recorded.” This is when fans took to social media to complain, calling Kelly and Mark the “laziest multi-millionaires in daytime TV.” The pre-taped segment was with guests Tamron Hall and Wendy Bazilian.
Fans shared:
- “Please bring back live shows.”
- “You are not live yet. It’s after New Years. Please get back to work we miss the live.”
Some fans also shared that whenever they see an episode has been “previously recorded,” they change the channel. Some fans teased the hosts for wishing everyone a “Happy New Year” when they weren’t recording live.
It is not the first time fans have shared their disappointment at a pre-recorded show. It probably won’t be the last.
The duo haven’t shared when they will return live to the studio in 2024. Fans will need to look out for the “previously recorded” statement at the start of each episode.
