Natalia Grace’s Real Age Finally Confirmed By DNA Testing
According to Beth Karas, a legal analyst featured in the docuseries, it won’t take long for people to figure out exactly how old Natalia is.
“I’m pretty confident that people will conclude what her age is, probably after two episodes.”
As those who have followed this story know, her “real age” has been the question people want answered for years. Michael and Kristine Barnett, her adoptive parents, claim they discovered she was significantly older than they were told after adopting her. So, they petitioned the court to “re-age” her. After the judge approved the petition, the couple abandoned their daughter and fled to Canada.
It was in July 2013 when the couple abandoned Natalia Grace in their apartment located in Lafayette, Indiana. Fleeing to Canada, they were both later arrested and charged with several counts of neglect. Both of their cases, however, were dismissed.
Michael and Kristine Barnett claimed that not only was Natalia not really a child but that she was a monster too. The couple alleged that she tried to kill them on multiple occasions. So, they abandoned her and fled for their safety.
She Claims She’s 20 Right Now
Natalia Grace insists she was only six when they adopted her. By petitioning the court to re-age her, they effectively stole her childhood from her. In a preview for the upcoming finale of the docuseries, Natalia tells viewers to just look at her. Then, she proceeds to ask if she looks like the monster the Barnetts claim she is.
Fortunately, advanced DNA testing has made it possible for scientists to get to the truth of how old she is. And, this question will finally be answered during the finale of the ID series.
