‘General Hospital’ Cameron Mathison Gives Big Cancer Update

Cameron Mathison has been on the hearts and minds of General Hospital fans since he first revealed he was diagnosed with kidney cancer back in 2019. Fortunately, the 54-year-old got incredibly lucky. The cancer was discovered early. Furthermore, it wasn’t one of the more aggressive forms. Since learning of his cancer, fans of General Hospital have constantly been on edge looking for updates on where he is or how he is doing.

Fortunately, the All My Children alum attended the 2023 Daytime Emmy Awards. While in attendance, he caught up with Entertainment Tonight and offered an update on his cancer.

General Hospital Cameron Mathison Gives Big Cancer Update

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, Cameron Mathison shared that he recently went to the doctor to receive his four-year check-up. Fortunately, he got a clean bill of health from his doctor. He was cancer-free. And, he was doing incredible.

“I’m stronger than I’ve ever been. I’ve got more energy than I’ve ever been. I worked really hard at it.”

Receiving a cancer diagnosis did alter certain aspects of the actor’s life. For example, he proceeded to tell the outlet that he developed a bit of a new routine. A routine that he didn’t have prior to his cancer diagnosis.

Cameron, however, didn’t go into many details about what his routine consisted of. He did share that included taking a lot of ice baths among other things.

Reflecting On His Diagnosis

It was back in 2019 when his life changed. It was a terrifying time for the actor, but he ended up being incredibly lucky. He was grateful for the medical team he had to support him.

As fans of General Hospital know, Cameron Mathison has always been very open about his cancer and his health on social media. Still speaking to Entertainment Tonight, he admits that he “loves” spreading any information about his cancer on social media. The actor hopes he helps people. Furthermore, he hopes it motivates people to take care of themselves as well.

Cameron proceeded to tease the outlet that thanks to his clean bill of health he had a lot going on right now as far as his career was concerned.

“I’m really fortunate. I got a really cool game show coming out on GSN (Game Show Network). I’ve got General Hospital happening. I’ve got I signed a movie deal with Great American. I got some Christmas movie. So I’m really fortunate.”
