Whose Line Is It Anyway? star Wayne Brady says it is “never too late” for a person to take control of their life and their story. The new Let’s Make A Deal host recently sat down with Yahoo! Entertainment to open up a bit further about coming out as pansexual back in August of this year.

As fans of the TV personality know, Wayne Brady came out as being pansexual during an interview with People Magazine. At the time, he explained that it meant he was bisexual with an open mind. He explained:

“So, I came to pansexual because — and I know that I’m completely messing up the dictionary meaning — but to me, pan means being able to be attracted to anyone who identifies as gay, straight, bi, transsexual or non-binary. Being able to be attracted across the board. And, I think, at least for me, for right now, that is the proper place.”

Turns out, the game show host hopes that his coming out story will inspire others to stop hiding and embrace their truths. Fortunately, some of the DMs he’s been receiving from fans sounds like he may be doing just that.

Wayne Brady On Coming Out: ‘Never Too Late’

The 51-year-old How I Met Your Mother guest star told Yahoo! Entertainment he’s received tons of DMs from individuals who were inspired by his decision to come out. He, however, explains that his inspiration isn’t just about people being honest about their sexual orientation. Instead, he’s inspired people to be honest about all aspects of their lives. For example, he had some DM him about finding the courage to change jobs thanks to Wayne Brady.

He shared: “I’ve gotten so many DMs, emails and texts from people who, at a midpoint in their life, want to express themselves, whether it’s changing their work or coming out.”

The TV personality adds the real mistake people make is thinking it is too late to make a change or embrace their truth. He, however, believes it is never too late for someone to chase after what makes them happy. And, he hopes that his story will continue to inspire people to stop hiding and running from their truths.

“It’s never too late to take hold of your story … for teenagers, young adults, theater students and young Black men who question the idea of masculinity, and what it all means.”

For Wayne Brady, one of the most exciting parts of coming out during that interview is the messages he’s been receiving from people. He did not realize how much his story would help other people. So, he’s decided to lean into it with the hope of inspiring even more to stop hiding.
