Jay Leno visits Let’s Make a Deal
Multi-hyphenate talent Wayne Brady hosts the CBS daytime game show in an updated version of the classic TV show of the 1960s, filmed in Los Angeles. Iconic TV late-night host Jay Leno is his secret weapon tonight.
Also on the show tonight, big deals are under construction as a disco dancer tries to spot the difference between two zonk photos, a big baby visits the ATM from home, and a majorette demonstrates her baton twirling skills, along with the LMAD cast.
Brady fields the contestants, who are often dressed in various original costumes as they compete for money and prizes by striking wacky deals.
Jonathan Mangum is the show’s announcer, and the original host was Monty Hall, who died in 2017. Hall was arguably the best-known host of the earlier version of the show and is still listed among the new show’s creative consultants.
The program won a Daytime Creative Arts Emmy Award for Outstanding Original Song in 2014 for 30,000 Reasons to Love Me, composed by Cat Gray and performed by Wayne Brady.
Wayne Brady is a Hollywood heavyweight.
Brady is the hardest working man in Hollywood based on his numerous projects, including Let’s Make A Deal.
Brady also hosts the Fox series Game of Talents. He is also developing another CBS sitcom loosely based on his real-life to boot.
Notably, Brady is taking a dramatic turn with Jon Bernthal and Gretchen Mol in Showtime’s American Gigolo.
David Hollander is the writer and executive producer of American Gigolo. This remake of the iconic 1980 film sees Bernthal star as Julian Kaye. Brady guest stars as Lorenzo, Julian’s best friend and mentor. Additional cast includes Gretchen Mol, Rosie O’Donnell, and Leland Orser.
Another CBS series that sees Brady cast is the CBS sitcom The Neighborhood.
In an excellent March 2021 interview with Michael Starr of the NY Post, Brady mentioned that he had optioned a book to produce featuring a trans superhero. He said: “When I leave the Earth, I hope the legacy of Wayne Brady won’t be, ‘Oh, wow, he really made us laugh on ‘Whose Line’ and we loved him on sitcoms,” he said. “That’s cool for some people. I want people to say, ‘Wayne Brady made us laugh, but he helped.”
CBS airs Let’s Make A Deal daily at 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
