It seems that even celebrities and news anchors experience their share of parent shaming. Today anchor Hoda Kotb offered her opinion after listening to actress Sienna Miller discussing pregnancy at 41 and all the flack she received along the way.

Sadly, it seems that Hoda has also received unfair and even rude comments from her fans. So what did have to say about the situation?

Hoda Kotb empathizes with other older parents

In an interview with Vogue, Sienna Miller said, “I’d love to get to a point where I didn’t feel the need to make a joke of my being older and having a baby. To show I’m in on the joke.”

She was 41 years old while pregnant with her child. As an older parent herself, Hoda Kotb could certainly relate. She replied to Sienna Miller’s comment on Today and agreed with her sentiments. However, Hoda is also glad she’s exploring motherhood as an older adult.

She is a single mother and has two daughters: six-year-old Haley and four-year-old Hope. Hoda herself is 59 years old.

“I am so happy and fulfilled with my decision that I don’t feel any ounce of shame,” the Today hostess shared.

“Hoda doesn’t feel like she needs a joke,” Jenna Hager Bush added. “Because she’s so delighted by them that when you lead with delight, guess what follows? Delight! When you lead with enthusiasm and this has to do with everything, people are enthusiastic back.”

Although Hoda is secure in herself and her choices, it seems that not everyone approves of her life choices.

The Today anchor actually received a hateful letter from a viewer

PEOPLE cites a previous episode of Today where the anchor revealed someone sent her hate mail over her parenting.

“I got a physical letter in the mail … from a woman who wrote, ‘Who do you think you are, having kids at that age?'” Hoda shared on the air. “I literally read it and thought, ‘Oh my God, I can’t believe someone put a stamp on it and sent it.'”

At first, Hoda felt hurt and shocked by the letter. But then she tore it up and gave herself a pep talk.

“I remember thinking, ‘Why does that bother me? I’m not embarrassed to be my age. I’m happy at my age. It’s the perfect storm of my life. Two kids, this time, this job,'” Hoda said on the air. “Someone was saying, ‘It gets greatest later’ — it does get greater later, but in between, there are these moments that you feel an ‘Ouch.'”
