Bachelor Nation Fans Rave Over Senior Dating Show

After several years in limbo, ABC finally debuted the first season of the senior dating spinoff of their popular Bachelor franchise.

Golden Bachelor was a hit with viewers who tuned in by the millions to watch a group of women over the age of 60 try to find love again with 72-year-old widower Gerry Turner.

Not even an ex-girlfriend’s shocking claims could dampen the fanfare over Gerry Turner. The first season was a ratings bonanza for the network, leaving fans eagerly awaiting news of a possible Golden Bachelorette or Golden Bachelor In Paradise.

At the end of a wholesome season, Turner chose Theresa Nist over Leslie Fhima. But the love story doesn’t end there.

Nist and Turner’s wedding will air live on television. The Golden Wedding airs in just a few weeks. Tune in to ABC on Thursday, January 4, at 8 PM Eastern to watch the nuptials.

Katie Thurston also found love on a Bachelor spinoff. However, the Season 17 Bachelorette didn’t get a happy ever after. Thurston and Blake Moynes ended their engagement after just a few months.

He joined Season 9 of Bachelor In Paradise but ultimately left the beach single.

Katie Thurston, now an amateur stand-up comic, decided to look for love outside Bachelor Nation after multiple failed relationships.

She was one of three female leads on Season 3 of the CW reality show FBoy Island. On the recent season finale, she chose Vince Xu over Benedict Polizzi, earning herself a cash prize of 50k and a new man.

During a recent red carpet appearance, Katie Thurston told TheWrap that FBoy Island is “more realistic” than the Bachelor franchise because there’s no pressure to get engaged.

The Bachelorette alum confessed that she hadn’t tuned in to the Golden Bachelor, but she’d “heard good things” about the spinoff.

In fact, she thinks it could be a saving grace for the reality show. “I think ‘The Golden Bachelor’ is actually going to save the franchise.”

“People are really drawn to it and I’m excited to see what happens for ‘The Golden Bachelorette,'” Thurston added.

Does she know something no one else does? A Golden Bachelorette spinoff hasn’t been announced by ABC yet.
