On the show, it was said if she went a little more to the side, she would have likely died in quicksand. The video was posted on Instagram and fans immediately began to bash her for the accident.

Gold Rush star explains that ‘accident’ was not how it looked on the show

The incident on Gold Rush was cut together with Rick Ness talking about how good things are going. He said that things needed to keep going smoothly for them to reach their goals. Intercut with this was Leah driving the truck and then someone yelled stop before it showed the truck wrecked in a ditch and dropped into the water.

The dialogue spoken was that Leah almost died in the accident and it ruined the truck. When this was posted on Instagram, commenters began bashing Leah and mocking her for the accident. That was despite the OP of the video writing that they thought she stopped on time. It turns out they were right. The accident was reportedly staged and the truck was not damaged at all.

Leah explained what happened with the incident. She said that Rick told her to park the truck across the road to be loaded. However, the tire went into a ditch for a culvert between two ponds. She said Rick was tight next to her the entire time, holding onto the truck with the loader. Leah said she then “got scared” and stopped.

Gold Rush then had all the crew re-enact a scene. The show then edited it for TV and pieced together what fans saw in the episode. Leah finished by saying that the truck was fine with zero damage. “It’s all drama for TV people!!! I left the show months later and have a successful career.”

Gold Rush fans complaint about re-enactments

When Leah explained that the incident was real, but not as bad as it seemed, it sent many fans to Reddit to talk about staged moments on the show.
