‘Squid Game: The Challenge’ Star Addresses Love Triangle Rumor

Fans of the Netflix reality series Squid Game: The Challenge are searching for answers regarding a possible love triangle between contestants. Although no concrete evidence has been made available, many are speculating if there were some intense moves happening behind the scenes.

Squid Game: The Challenge made its debut on Netflix on November 22 when it dropped its first five episodes. The show is a reality-based spin-off of the extremely popular Squid Game. The South Korean show made a surprising splash in 2021 when it became one of the most-watched programs to ever be featured on the streaming service.

Banking on Squid Game’s popularity, Netflix produced Squid Game: The Challenge in hopes of striking gold twice. So far, critics and fans are split on the show. Critics have argued that the reality show has misfired in attempting to recreate Squid Game’s “lighting in a bottle” quality. While audiences are eating up the show’s addictive nature and compelling drama between contestants. And there has certainly been drama.

Squid Game: The Challenge Star Talks About Possible Love Triangle

While appearing on The Viall Files podcast, Phalisia, otherwise known as Player 229, made some interesting comments. While speaking about the show’s lack of lip balm during production, Phalisia confirmed the rumor that contestants resorted to using lubed condoms. “There was a stock of condoms for whatever reason,” she said.

When pressed on whether there were hookups during the shoot, Phallisia paused. She was then asked directly who were the ones to hook up, a question that she tried to avoid.

“I can’t say for sure if they f***ed,” Phalisia. “But I can say that I was in the bathroom when they both were in the shower.” After a little more prying, she opened up just a bit. “There’s a love triangle going on. Just search the internet and I’m sure you guys can find it.”

Who Was Caught In The Love Triangle?

Days before Phalisia’s appearance on The Viall Files podcast, Ashley Tolbert, or Player 278 also shined a light on a possible romance. “Lol so should we do a live with joy and the other woman that was a part of the love triangle on the show?” she wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Ashley is referring to Joy Mbella, Player 271, and Alex Al-Ameen, Player 417. Their budding romance caught the eyes of many viewers of the show. Although their romance was never included in any scene on the show, other contestants can back up Phalisia and Ashley’s accounts.

Sam Kohn, or Player 188, admitted to witnessing similar events. “There was a little showman between players Joy and Alex. He was on the bunk above me and they’d lie in bed each night and cuddle a bit. But then when it was lights out you had to go back to your own bunk,” Sam told The Tab. “In the showers, there were modesty showers for the Muslim players which was floor-to-ceiling frosted glass and there were rumors people were f***ing in them. But I don’t know how true that is!”
