Will There Be A When Calls The Heart Christmas 2023 Special?
Hallmark’s Countdown To Christmas 2023 is well under way. Will this season include another When Calls The Heart Christmas special? Traditionally, this movie would premiere on Christmas Day.
Unfortunately for Hearties, there will not be a 2023 WCTH Christmas special. The last time that Hallmark made a Christmas movie in Hope Valley was in 2019. However, the next year the network was facing filming delays due to the worldwide pandemic.
Although WCTH was one of the first series to start filming again, they chose not to make a holiday movie.

Hallmark Supersized When Calls The Heart Instead Of Christmas Movie
Why did Hallmark stop making the When Calls The Heart Christmas movie back in 2020? Although the network had not shared why they decided to ax the holiday movie, they decided to do something else instead.
According to Brian Bird, the reason was that they could produce the movie. However, they instead decided to supersize the season. They bumped up the amount of series episodes from 10 to 12 episodes. That was Season 7. This allowed Hallmark to add more characters, and tell more stories.
Since then, they have filmed 12 episodes for Seasons 8-10. There is no reason to believe that they filmed less for Season 11.

WCTH Spinoff Had Last Christmas Movie
The last When Calls The Heart-related Christmas movie was in 2021. This was When Hope Calls Christmas. This movie starred many of the favorites that were in When Hope Calls.
In addition, there were two WCTH stars in this movie. Lori Loughlin reprised her role as Abigail Stanton, and Daniel Lissing his role as Jack Thornton. This was Laughlin’s first role post-College Admissions Scandal. Also, to clarify, Lissing portrayed the Mountie as a sort of ghost figure. No one has to worry that Jack did not die in Season 5.
However, this movie was made by Great American Family, and it aired there. Unfortunately, the announcement about the WCTH spinoff indicated it was back for Season 2. But, Morgan Kohan recently revealed that When Hope Calls will not be back for any more episodes. This is certainly disappointing for Hearties who hoped to get more stories.
