American Pickers ratings have dropped in recent seasons. While the drop in ratings seemed to coincide with the termination of the popular Frank Fritz as a co-host on the show, Mike Wolfe has other things he is blaming. Mike and his brother Robbie Wolfe seem to be blaming the network for the show’s struggles.

Here is what Mike is saying and what it means for the show.

Mike Wolfe blames network for American Pickers’ struggles

Mike Wolfe was part of the team that fired Frank Fritz from American Pickers. Mike and Frank are childhood friends who teamed up as co-hosts on the popular reality show. However, after Frank’s termination, Mike brought in his own brother Robbie Wolfe to replace him, along with Danielle Colby. However, ratings have not been as good since Frank left.

However, it seems that Mike and Robbie blame the History Channel for its scheduling of the episodes for the ratings drop rather than the fans’ disinterest in watching the show without Frank. A source from the show claims that Mike is mad that the episodes keep getting pushed back, possibly to “keep up with the streaming” (via The US Sun). The source said Mike is mad the History Channel is playing a batch of episodes and stopping rather than releasing an entire season.

“It p*sses them off. Robbie has complained about how ‘stupid’ it was to see episodes filmed a year prior,” the source said. The source said the network is playing with things to see what happens. Season 24 started on January 4 and ran until March 8. The rest of the season then picked up again on July 5 and ran until August 23. All of the episodes were shot last year.

It is similar to the complaints from Gold Rush: White Water, who had its show stopped in the middle of the season by Discovery. That show’s creator said ratings were good, but the long delay to finish the season hurt the show.

American Pickers ratings have dropped

The ratings this season for American Pickers have dropped considerably compared to past seasons. It was normal in the past for every episode to have well over one million viewers an episode. The premiere for this season only brought in 918,000 viewers.

The July 12 episode brought in 803,000 viewers, and only 713,000 tuned in on July 19. The August 23 episode was the lowest of the season, with only 620,000 viewers. There is another reason the numbers are dropping. More people are streaming and cutting cable out completely. This also means people can watch the episodes on their own time and not when they first air. Mike is also said to be blaming streaming for the ratings drop.

What are your thoughts on the American Pickers ratings drop? Do you agree that the History Channel is to blame, or is it because of other reasons? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
