Gerry Turner’s penchant for crying on The Golden Bachelor became the key topic of discussion on Friday’s episode of The View.

It is perfectly natural for everyone to show a little emotion every now and then. For some people, it is simply easier for them to convey their emotions than others. Gerry Turner, the 72-year-old star of The Golden Bachelor, is one of the people who has no issues with getting emotional. In fact, it’s something that many of the contestants of the show have found endearing. However, according to Joy Behar, Turner’s ability to cry has started to become a little much.

A Little Crying Goes A Long Way

During Friday’s episode of The View, the panel opened up a discussion into the latest from The Golden Bachelor. In some one-on-one time with both Leslie Fhima and Theresa Nist, Turner admitted that he loved each of them. He even confided with Fhima that she is the “one that he can’t live without.”

Turner opening himself up to each woman quickly became a hot-button issue among the hosts. Behar said that believes that Turner’s emotions are overplayed. “He cries a lot, this guy. It’s like, it’s just a TV show. Nobody died. He’s always crying, he’s like in John Boehner territory,” Joy Behar said. “What’s going on over there? Is the Fantasy Suites really where they’re doing anything? Or are they just playing Canasta in there? Who the hell knows?”

Sunny Hostin agreed with Behar. She says that Turner “does cry too much.” Hostin wouldn’t condemn him for his emotions but she considers his crying “a little bit unattractive.” After considering Turner’s past and what he wants to achieve, Hostin is skeptical of his intentions. “He was here, he was lovely, but he’s also said he’s in love with a couple of women and now he’s in Fantasy Suites with two women. I think he’s making up for lost time, ‘cause he’s been widowed for seven years,” she said. “There’s a difference between love and lust, Mr. Golden Bachelor.”

Is Gerry Turner Speaking From His Heart?

Sara Haines agreed with Hostin’s assessment of Turner’s questionable intentions. Haines points out that Turner “married his high school sweetheart.” She believes that could be something that has complicated his ability to choose just one partner. “This man has been in love one time,” she said. “Now he’s a grown man that has all of the experiences. He’s only loved one woman.”

“There’s a difference between lust and love,” Hostin jumped back in to say. “And the lust was present in the Fantasy Suite.”

Turner made The Golden Bachelor host Jesse Palmer squirm a bit when he mentioned that older people still “knock boots.” Turner looked at Palmer and asked, “Your parents, are you still feeling like mom and dad come down those stairs with a little extra spring in their step?”

  1. His crying all the time is a big turn off. Makes Gerry appear like he’s shady and hiding behind tears. He needs to man up.

    1. Does all of his crying excuse his bad behavior… He behaves badly and then cries a lot to show us all how badly he feels about it so the focus is on how “bad” he feels and not on his bad behavior. Not a fan.
