Good grief! Bad news for old-school classic cartoon fans — A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving won’t be airing on television next week. This comes as a sad blow to Charlie Brown fans as this year marks the 50th anniversary of the Thanksgiving special.
So, if fans can’t watch A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving on television next week the question is: how/where can people watch it? Fortunately, there are streaming options available. What are they? Keep reading for the details.
50th Anniversary: Not Airing On Television
The initial release date for the Charlie Brown Thanksgiving special was November 20, 1973. So, that means A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. For those who need a refresher, here is the official synopsis of the Thanksgiving special:
Peppermint Patty invites everyone to Charlie Brown’s for Thanksgiving, even though he’s going to see his grandmother; Snoopy decides to cook his own version of a Thanksgiving meal with help from his friends.
Unfortunately, per multiple media outlets and the TV guide, fans of the classic cartoon won’t be able to catch the special on television this year. This, however, doesn’t mean fans are without options for streaming the holiday special.
A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving: How To Watch
According to ET Online, those hoping to enjoy the Charlie Brown Thanksgiving special as part of their tradition next week still can. Apple TV+ will have A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving available for streaming.
Unfortunately, Apple TV+ is not a free streaming service. Customers can subscribe to Apple TV+ for $9.99 a month. The subscription does come with a free week trial, though. So, new customers could subscribe just long enough to watch the holiday special and cancel their services before the free trial ends.
Before rushing to cancel the subscription after the free trial, keep in mind Apple TV+ is also home to A Charlie Brown Christmas and Happy New Year, Charlie Brown. So, it may be a subscription worth keeping till the New Year for fans planning on streaming the other holiday specials.
Are There Other Options?
Unfortunately, it does not appear as if there are any other streaming options. Amazon Prime Video, for example, doesn’t even have the Thanksgiving special available to purchase or rent. The only other option would be to purchase the Thanksgiving special outright.
For example, Amazon does have the Charlie Brown holiday bundle for sale. It, however, costs nearly $50 after taxes. This option would also require the individual to have a DVD player or a gaming console that can play DVDs. So, it is cheaper just to subscribe to Apple TV+ for a month or two.
