‘Love Is Blind’ Aaliyah Cosby Discloses Why She Left Abruptly

Aaliyah Love Is Blind

Netflix’s Love Is Blind has hit screens again with the newest season. If you haven’t binge-watched the available episodes, proceed with caution. If you’re tuning in, you know several couples have strong connections. Comparatively, Season 5 already has some twists and introduces different aspects than the earlier seasons. One of the wildest rides so far has been the interaction between Uche Okoroha and Aaliyah Cosby.

Feeling The Love In The Love Is Blind Pods

The first four episodes of Love Is Blind Season 5 are a rollercoaster of emotions. One of the strongest connections in the pods is Uche Okoroha and Aaliyah Cosby. As they began to open up to one another, they discussed their “deal breakers.” They both said honesty is the most important thing for each of them. Little did they know how much the truth would hurt. However, once Aaliyah Cosby opened up about previously cheating on a partner, Uche Okoroha was not pleased. Unfortunately, it was revealed that he was hiding a secret the whole time.

Once Uche Okoroha responded to Aaliyah’s past, they had to work through it. Uche reflected on his reaction and so did Aaliyah. Confronting the issue, Aaliyah spoke about how it felt for her to be honest and feel condemned for her openness. After they discussed it, they realized they could move forward with the agreement that Uche be more accepting when she is vulnerable.

Uche Okoroha Secret Unveiled

Although everything seemed to be moving forward with Uche Okoroha and Aaliyah Cosby, a few episodes later Uche’s secret came out. Uche and another contestant, Lydia Velez Gonzalez, previously dated right before the production of Love Is Blind. She had grown very close to Lydia which made this situation even more difficult. Reportedly, Aaliyah revealed to Us Weekly she sees in hindsight, that Uche concealing his past was a big “red flag.”

Uche And Aaliyah Breaking Point

Once the news was broken to Aaliyah on Love Is Blind, she went to Lydia and it was just too much. From there, it all started to unravel. It was such a tricky situation that unfortunately added doubt to the equation. Recognizing how close Lydia and Uche had been just three months earlier, Aaliyah immediately went into the pods to confront Uche about his past relationship. “If I wanted to be in a relationship with Lydia, I would be in a relationship with Lydia,” Uche reassured Aaliyah.

Love Is Blind Curveball

While the couple seems mature and compatible, the extra curveball in this season of Love Is Blind was overwhelming. Ultimately, it was just too much for Aaliyah to move forward. “I think all of us have a past [and] history going into relationships after a certain point in life,” Aaliyah exclusively told Us before the premiere of season 5. “We all have things that we’re going to have to work through with a new partner [that’s] not necessarily bringing in a bunch of baggage, but your lessons learned even some traumas and different things that you’re going to have to work through.”

She knows, “You’re going to have to compromise and work through things. I was open to [discussing the hard truths].” Admittedly, Love Is Blind is extremely expedites the process of love. She reflects that she had to be sure about a proposal decision and she wasn’t. Uche ultimately planned to propose to Aaliyah. Sadly, she chose to leave Love Is Blind early before he had the chance. Aaliyah expressed, “It was really just the emotional security that was really lacking for me going into the engagement.” According to Us, Aaliyah recalled her decision to walk away from the reality TV show and Uche was the doubt that came from the unusual situation.

Was Uche Okoroha wrong for waiting to tell Aaliyah? Do you think Aaliyah Cosby should have stuck it out? Do you think they can make something work outside of the show? Drop your thoughts in the comments below.
