As TV Shows Ace reported two months ago, “RIP Steve Harvey” was trending on social media platforms. Naturally, the trend caused some fans to panic. The TV personality is extremely popular. Many argue he is the only reason they even watch Family Feud. Fortunately, it was nothing more than a celebrity death hoax.
The question is: Why is the death of Steve Harvey trending once again?
Steve Harvey Dead Trends On TikTok
With every Family Feud video a person watches on TikTok right now, the search bar at the bottom says “Steve Harvey passed away at 56.” Naturally, the search bar trend instilled an immediate panic in fans. Was something wrong with Steve Harvey?
Clicking on the search, users of TikTok were sent a few videos reporting the passing of Steve Harwell. As fans of Smash Mouth know, Steve Harwell passed away five days ago at the age of 56. Steve Harvey, on the other hand, is not 56. And, he did not pass away. Their names are just so similar, they got linked on TikTok.
Moreover, there are a few videos claiming Steve Harvey passed away when this search is clicked on TikTok. One of the videos, however, is fairly old. It is an individual pulling a prank on their family by saying Steve Harvey died to get a reaction out of people. This was actually a very common prank trend on TikTok for a while. People would claim a random celebrity passed away to get a reaction from people.
There was also a random video claiming it was actually Steve’s wife who passed away. This particular video was uploaded just a few months ago. Technically, this video was updated around the same time Steve Harvey’s death was trending on social media two months ago.
Family Feud Fans Still Panic
While there is zero reason to believe Steve Harvey is dead… Some Family Feud fans still panic. Many took to the comments of recent Family Feud videos and asked why his death was a trending search right now. Turns out, it was people asking these questions and clicking on the search that was prolonging the trend as TikTok continued to show it to more people.
