In a statement to Rolling Stone, the band’s manager Robert Hayes confirmed his passing. The former lead singer passed away in his home in Boise, Idaho.
Robert said that Steve “passed peacefully and comfortably” while he was “surrounded by family and friends” on Monday, September 4.

His only tools were his irrepressible charm and charisma, his fearlessly reckless ambition, and his king-size cajones. Steve lived a 100 percent full-throttle life. Burning brightly across the universe before burning out.”
