‘Golden Bachelor’: Meet The Women Yearning For Gerry Turner’s Final Rose
After three years of uncertainty, fans of The Bachelor are eagerly awaiting the premiere of The Golden Bachelor. In anticipation of the upcoming season, ABC released the names and images of the women competing for Gerry Turner’s Final Rose. Keep reading for all the details.
Who Is Gerry Turner?
Gerry Turner is a 71-year-old grandfather from Indiana. Described as a “romantic” in an early ABC press release, Turner is looking for another chance at love.
His wife of over 40 years died in 2017. The couple’s two children, Angie and Jenny, support his journey on The Bachelor. In fact, they encouraged him to apply for the show.
In an interview early this year, he spoke to Variety about how he came to be part of the popular ABC franchise. He said that he saw an ad for The Golden Bachelor and brought it up to his daughters. Turns out that Gerry Turner’s daughters are fans of the show and got him hooked on it, too.
According to Turner, he was quickly contacted after applying. However, plans for the spin-off ground to a halt during the COVID pandemic.
He heard from ABC again earlier this year, and now the premiere is almost upon us.
When Does The Golden Bachelor Premiere?
ABC’s Fall line-up is a reality TV fan’s dream. Thanks to the SAG-AFTRA strike, not many networks have scripted shows available for the upcoming Fall TV season.
However, this also caused a huge shake-up for the Bachelor franchise shows. As fans know Bachelor Nation shows usually airs on Mondays. But Dancing With The Stars is returning to network TV after last year’s disastrous attempt to move it exclusively to Disney+.
With the Monday slot full, Bachelor shows are moving to Thursdays. In addition to The Golden Bachelor, the fan-favorite beachy hookup show Bachelor in Paradise returns for Season 9.
Both shows will air on Thursdays, leading with The Golden Bachelor at 8 p.m. Eastern, followed by two hours of Bachelor in Paradise.
They both premiere on Thursday, September 28 and will be available to stream on Hulu the next day.

Meet The Women Yearning For Gerry Turner’s Final Rose
In the article with Variety, Gerry Turner revealed he didn’t have much say over casting choices for his contestants. He did, however, have a suggestion for their ages. “60 to 70, but feel free to blur the lines,” is what he told producers. Did they?
The list of women hoping to find love with Gerry Turner is out and yes, producers did follow his guidelines. All of the women are at least 60 and two are 75 years old.
The cast is diverse in both race and lifestyle. The list of 22 women ranges in careers from retired teachers to therapists. One woman is a fitness instructor.
Bachelor Nation fans will recognize one of the contestants. Matt James’ mother, Patty, is among the women hoping to win Gerry Turner’s heart. The Celine Dion lookalike appeared during her son’s stint as Bachelor in Season 25. It’s unclear – but likely – if Matt or his girlfriend, Rachael Kirkconnell, will appear on The Golden Bachelor.
