CONFIRMED! Matt James’ Mom On ‘Golden Bachelor’
After years of build-up, ABC is ready to premiere the first-ever senior Bachelor. And now we know exactly who will be competing for Gerry Turner’s Final Rose. Is Matt James Still With Rachael Kirkconnell?
Matt James had a tumultuous season on The Bachelor. Cast as a lead in 2020 for Season 25 amid racial discord across the country, he was the franchise’s first Black lead.
Shortly into the season, photos surfaced of frontrunner Rachael Kirkconnell attending a party on a plantation. By the time the photos came to light in the real world, the show had already been filmed and Matt James chose Kirkconnell as the winner, though he skipped the traditional proposal.
The couple revealed during the After the Final Rose special that they broke up over the public pressure from the scandal. But that didn’t last long. They reunited a few months later. Are they still going strong?
While there is always speculation about the status of their relationship, their respective Instagrams reveal that they are still happily together.
In fact, they just spent the weekend in California, according to Kirkconnell’s Instagram Stories.
Will Matt James’ Mom Find Lasting Love On The Golden Bachelor?
ABC first teased the idea of a Bachelor featuring older people back in 2020. The COVID pandemic put those plans on hold. But earlier this year, they revived the idea and Bachelor Nation fans had many casting suggestions.
At one point, fans were clamoring for Gabby Windey’s grandfather to be the lead on a senior Bachelor. At the time, Windey was a contestant on Clayton Echard’s season of The Bachelor.
She didn’t win Clayton’s heart but went on to star in a joint season of The Bachelorette with Rachel Recchia. Gabby Windey recently revealed that she’s bisexual and dating a woman.
ABC announced earlier this year that Gerry Turner is the lead on the first season of The Golden Bachelor. He doesn’t have any connection to Bachelor Nation, though his daughters are fans of the show.
Rumors were also circulating about Matt James’ mom as one of the women appearing on The Golden Bachelor. Both Matt James and Rachael Kirkconnell previously claimed they had no idea if the rumor was true or not, per US Weekly.
However, the August 30th release of the names of 22 women appearing on The Golden Bachelor reveals that the rumors are true – Patty James could find lasting love with Gerry Turner.
The 22 women all fit within an age range of 60-75, with Patty James landing somewhere in the middle at 70. Many fans noted during her appearance to support Matt James on Season 25 of The Bachelor that his mom looks a lot like singer Celine Dion.
