Is The Kilcher Family Returning For ‘Alaska The Last Frontier’ Season 11?

Alaska: The Last Frontier, premiering in 2011, continues to be well-loved throughout its eleven seasons. It highlights the Alaskan life of the Kilcher family. The Kilcher family lives without the typical modern conveniences that most people enjoy. It’s easy to say that fans know the family if they watched over the past eleven seasons. For anyone unfamiliar, there are a few ties to fame mixed in with the family. For instance, a well-known family member, Atz Kilcher, is the father of a notable pop star Jewel. He is the father to Jewel and is unmistakably also known for abuse during her childhood. Following the family, fans have been pleasantly surprised by the release of the show’s latest season in October 2022. Now, the big question is, will the Kilchers have a Season 12?

Alaska: The Last Frontier Season 11 Brought Tough News About The Kilcher Family

During Alaska: The Last Frontier Season 11, Otto Kilcher suffered an injury that landed him in the hospital. With his future health uncertain at the beginning of the season, fans weren’t sure what to think. During a snowstorm, he came upon oxen which led to his injury followed by a hospital stay. Otto commented, “Well, suppose the cat’s outta the bag by now. It was a great day at the head of the bay, it just ended poorly. High tides, snow storms – no problem. Bovine trampled, emergency responders – not so cool.” With recent footage from Alaska: The Last Frontier, it seems that after his hospital stay, Otto Kilcher is doing good. Notably, he was still filming the reality series even with his injuries.

What Is Going On With Future Filming For The Kilcher Family?

Fans’ suspicions heightened of the show’s cancellation when the show didn’t leave Discovery after season 10, they were surprised by the release of season 11. But how many more seasons will the Kilcher family take part in? Discovery doesn’t say either way, but there are assumptions there are plans for a new season.

Unfortunately, it isn’t uncommon for Discovery to wait to announce a new season. Although, it was a bit odd that it waited as long as it did to reveal season 11 though. Strangely, it was announced in September 2022 right before it was aired in October 2022. It is no wonder fans were questioning if season 10 might be the end. So if the Kilcher family, including Jane Kilcher, will be on the air for a 12th season, assumedly filming should be happening currently or already completed for it to be ready to release in 2023.

Is This Farewell?

Will the Kilcher Family return or say goodbye after their long stint? Currently, it is hard to say. There’s no sign from Discovery that they intend to bring the series to an end yet. But, no information is available about the certainty of a new season either.  What we do know is that during the October 2022 teaser for season 11, Discovery highlighted the younger generation’s responsibility in the family. They said, “The next generation must rise up like never before and take on new challenges and fresh opportunities to lead the Kilcher family into the future.” That seems to point to future show material based on the new generation making their way.

Jane Kilcher revealed a shocking update not long ago that she was getting a divorce. She is also on the show Bering Sea Gold. Fans love getting to watch Jane Kilcher even if it isn’t on Alaska The Last Frontier. Jane Kilcher can be seen on the current season of Bering Sea Gold now airing on Discovery.
