‘Today’ Why Did Hoda Kotb Rush Off Stage During Segment?

Viewers of The Today Show were a bit shocked when Hoda Kotb abruptly rushed off the stage and out of the studio during the middle of the PopStart segment. What caused the talk show host to jump and run in the middle of a segment? Turns out, there was a pretty simple reason why she suddenly had to dash off the stage. Keep reading for the explanation.

Why Did Hoda Kotb Rush Off Stage During Segment?

As fans of The Today Show know, Carson Daly is usually the one in charge of the PopStart segment. He, however, was missing during this episode. Instead, Jacob Soboroff took charge of Carson’s segment. During the segment, Hoda Kotb was spotted on the stage with her fellow co-hosts.

During Friday’s PopStart segment, the Today Show hosts came together to pay tribute to the late musician Randy Meisner, one of the founding members of the Eagles, who passed away at the age of 77 on July 26. As Tv Shows Ace previously reported, the late musician left an enduring legacy behind him.

Moreover, his contributions to his band and the music industry will continue to resonate with his fans forever. So, it wasn’t too surprising to viewers at home that he was a highlighted part of Friday’s PopStar segment. During this emotional segment, the talk show treated viewers to a showcase of various photos and sound bites in honor of Randy Meisner.

While the tribute photos and sound bites rolled, the cameras did shift away from the hosts. When the cameras panned back to the hosts, Hoda vanished. Turns out, she quickly dashed off the set while the cameras were looking elsewhere. Hoda Kotb was slated to participate in another segment that took place outside. And, she needed to get there before it started.

Savannah Guthrie Calls Attention To The Missing Host

The Today Show hosts Savannah Guthrie, Al Roker, Craig Melvin, and fill-in Jacob Soboroff proceeded to discuss a few different performers after the tribute ended. At the moment, the hosts were not calling attention to Hoda being missing from her chair.

Once the PopStart segment came to an end, it was Savannah Guthrie who called attention to the fact that Hoda vanished. She playfully clapped as she asked her co-hosts what happened to Hoda.

The camera proceeded to reveal Hoda Kotb who was rushing out of the studio. She arrived at Rockefeller Plaza where she was joined by pop star Renee Rapp.

Together, Hoda and the pop star proceeded to get the audience hyped up for the singer’s live performance.
