‘Today’ Hoda Kotb Snaps At Replacement Co-Host On Air

The Today Show host Hoda Kotb snapped at a replacement co-host while on the air this week.

Things have been a little tense in the studio this week, and food has been at the center of it all. Earlier this week, an aggravated Hoda told producers to cut the mic from her fellow co-hosts amid what was supposed to be a light-hearted food segment. And on Wednesday, Hoda snapped at a replacement co-host during yet another food segment. Read on to find out why Hoda is having so much trouble with her co-anchors and food this week.

Hoda Tells Producers To Cut The Mic of Co-Hosts

The first food-related incident this week came during Tuesday’s “Talker” segment. The hosts were tackling a new TikTok phenomenon known as “Girl Dinner.” Girl Dinner involves taking leftovers from unrelated meals to make a meal with little or no cooking.

Hoda Kotb, 58, was joined by co-hosts Sheinelle Jones, 45, Jenna Bush Hager, 41, and Savannah Guthrie, 51. They all shared their favorite version of Girl Dinner, going around the table to provide a little peek into their low-effort favorites. But while the women were talking about Girl Dinner, co-hosts Carson Daly and Al Roker were on another part of the show’s set. They were indulging in their version, which they playfully called “Boy Dinner.”

Producers put the two groups up on the screen at the same time using a split-screen approach. But Hoda became irritated when the men’s discussion started overshadowing what the women were talking about. An obviously-aggravated Hoda asked, “Are they still talking?” She then told producers, “Kill their mic.” Producers then returned viewers solely to the women’s segment.

But Hoda Kotb’s irritation on food-centric topics resurfaced again on Wednesday. During Wednesday’s show, Hoda, Al Roker, Sheinelle Jones, and Willie Geist welcomed legendary cook Martha Stewart for a segment.

Savannah Guthrie would usually be there for this kind of segment, but she was replaced by temp host Willie Geist. During the segment, Martha was showing the hosts how to make lobster linguine. As they started practicing their lobster-cracking skills, Willie broke out some expert moves. Hoda saw his top-of-the-class efforts and snapped playfully, “Willie, stop showing off, I just got it!” 

Al, on the other hand, struggled to master the art of lobster cracking. Sheinelle teased him, “Al is manhandling his lobster down there.” Meanwhile, Martha slipped a bee in Hoda’s bonnet by tapping Willie as the best lobster cracker at the table. She praised him briefly, saying, “Willie is the best, he has the best lobster.” A humble Willie replied, “I have a great teacher.”
